Sims for Download

For anyone who's interested, here are all of the original characters from my stories (either created in CAS or born in-game). You can use these however you like. A wink and nod is not necessary, but always appreciated (especially the wink). If you use one of them for something, please give me a heads-up so I can check it out.

Sims from Strangetown, Here We Come

Any of the sims that I've created in CAS for a story, and those born in-game, will be posted here. They should be completely free of cc, with the exception of custom Lyran eyes on some of the CAS sims (if you must have them without, let me know), and I've dressed them up in base game hair and clothing, because I try to be thoughtful like that.

I have listed the cc and items from the EP/SPs that I've used on them in the story, and also the character stats needed to fully recreate them, but feel free to make them over however you see fit. In art school, one of my profs used to say that the secret to reinventing something is to just "turn it upside down and add a hat," so you might want to start there. Results may vary.

Mr. Doe

sloppy/neat: 10
shy/outgoing: 2
lazy/active: 7
serious/playful: 2

serious/playful: 2
grouchy/nice: 8

Aspiration: Popularity

- Kara hair from HystericalParoxysm
- Untuckable shirt recolour (HP mesh) by Nihilia
- jeans are from H&M Stuff

Fun Fact: Jayne is my middle name. Any other resemblance is purely unintentional. In fact, we're not much alike at all (though that is the same personality spread for seriousness and niceness that I gave my simself... and I do have green skin).

- hair from Seasons

Fun Fact: I thought of Charlotte York from Sex and the City when I named her.

Lyla Grunt

This is my version, created from Ripp and Buck's genetics, with some tweaking. I also took a stab at her personality, as you can see. I made it so that the boys would all have a logical mix of both parents.

sloppy/neat: 3
shy/outgoing: 3
lazy/active: 3
serious/playful: 7
grouchy/nice: 9

Aspiration: Romance/Family

- wears a recolour of H&M Stuff dress by lemonbutter

serious/playful: 6
grouchy/nice: 4

Aspiration: Popularity/Fortune

- hair from Carnaby Sims
- shirt and jacket converted to single top from a full H&M outfit (unsure of source - I'll look into it)
- Swishy Skirt with Boots by HystericalParoxysm

Fun fact: Her name is a combination of Debbie Harry (of Blondie) and Karen O (of Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs), which hints at just how well she can rock out.

She's descended from the Maxis default PT (through breeding in CAS), as her cheekbones indicate.

Cammy (Camilla) Nutmeg

sloppy/neat: 4
shy/outgoing: 4
lazy/active: 4
serious/playful: 7
grouchy/nice: 6

Aspiration: Pleasure/Knowledge

-
Hazel eyes by Lyran (included)
- wears a striped recolour of a basegame dress from emosims

That's it for now. I'll be adding more sims to this post as they appear in my stories.

Yay!

I'm going to dl some of these right away. Thank you!

Letting you know that Mr Doe, Jayne Doe, Edie Worthington & Cammy Nutmeg have taken up residence on my harddrive.

Thank you for sharing & for including their stats!

Oh, so very cool! Now I really need to get off my butt and upload some of my CAS and game-born sims (mostly that list includes the alien Grunt twins Rissa and Roxie and my little bit o' nasty Fred Starwind, but there are a couple more), just as soon as I figure out just which files are them!

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. That sounds very interesting. I've heard that you can have almost all of the creature effects at the same time on one sim (with the exception of servos), but I've never tried it. What an odd balance of needs. The vampire and plantsim don't seem to mesh very well. I believe you when you say it's a lot of work to keep that sim alive!
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay. :P We all have them. (And I think your zombie/vampire/plantsim sounds really cool.)

I've been meaning to post some of these for ages now, but packaging them up in basegame gear, getting the stats, and photographing them was a bit of work (and I have more originals than you'd think for someone who uses mostly Maxis sims, don't I?), so I never got around to it until now. Now that it's set up, it will be easy to add more as I go along.

Oh, I would love to see some of the toddlers turn up in your work! :D I have Balizarde Roseland to upload too, but I'm going to let him make his appearance in the story first. I have another CAS alien sim and an extraction from an old Pleasantview I used to play that will eventually appear too, and I'm quite pleased with those sims. I can't say much more about them right now, but I look forward to introducing them at some point.

I wouldn't mind that at all. Thank you for considering them for it. :) You'd be getting the default PT and PT #9 genetics, with some features from the Curious brothers and Jenny. I would love to make my own default set like that at some point too, and if I do, I think I'll be making some original CAS aliens for it.

I didn't do a whole lot with Lyla either. I used the pacifier thing in CAS to make her the "child" of Buck and Ripp (yeah, that just seems so wrong). She has Ripp's eyes, but mostly Buck's facial shape. I tweaked her nose too. It's something like a cross between Ripp and Buck's nose, and still fairly large for her face, to make her make more sense (since Buzz has a tiny little nose). I'm not really a fan of cute little button noses, anyway. Well, on some people/sims, they're nice, but I prefer a strong nose.

You're very welcome! :)

I know. Aren't they? I like aliens like Johnny just as much, if not more, though. I love the normal eyes with the alien skin too. I want to include some characters with alien eyes and human skin in my story at some point, but they'd have to be 1/4 alien, so they'll be few and far between. Abductions weren't as common a couple of generations back, as I see it. There are some examples in the game, though. Nina and Dina Caliente are descended from aliens, which is an interesting detail.

Oooh, I like the shifty eyes. *grin* Are you planning something?

You're welcome. :) Take as many as you like. I'm happy to share.

[identity profile] imsothenetgirl.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, awesome! I've been wanting to get my hands on Mr Doe for ages now. I'll probably end up downloading some others eventually, but I'm still deciding.

I like to use other people's Sims to clone over the Maxis townies. :)
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Hooray! :D I'm very excited to hear that you've taken those particular sims, since I'm pretty proud of them. I'm sure I put a good hour of work into Mr. Doe. Eyebrows that impressive don't just happen in the blink of an eye. *snicker*

I thought I'd save those who wanted stats some time by including them (and those who don't care about the stats can just ignore them). I always want the stats if I clone a sim or steal them from someone else. I think the personality profile is a very important element of the sim.

You're welcome.
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, why not? It's fun to share.

Starwind, you say? I came up with a very similar surname for a new character in my next chapter. Now I feel like I should probably change it, but it just suits him so well. Maybe I'll give it some more thought. The same naming strategy can easily be applied to other words.
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
How cool. I like the idea of him being a townie out there in someone else's game. And how nice that you actively wanted to get your hands on him. :) I'm glad to hear that. I like him (to say the least), but I had no idea if he'd have a wider appeal.

[personal profile] katsuko 2008-06-05 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, but no real worries on the naming scheme thing. I was being a bit of a dork when I started the latest legacy and made my founder Gene Starwind from the anime Outlaw Star. All the heirs are named after other characters, and Fred was the first in line. I just know that I'm gonna screw up somewhere down the line and get someone another surname, that seems to be my luck (it's also the only way I can figure that one of my earlier self-sims wound up being Maria Long after I screwed up marrying her to Benjamin Long!)

[identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I love that kind too! That way, the normal colored eyes really stand out. Yeah, I would think sims like that would have to be a quarter also. Haha, I think it's so weird that Nina and Dina have some alien in them. They come from Pleasantview, no less!

[identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha, I hate when the names get all screwed up because something stupid like that happened. Which of course, was Tank's problem in my game. :P
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
By the way the genetics work in the game, with the alien stuff being dominant, it would have to be at least the 2nd Gen. of alien sim before you ended up with normal skin and alien eyes. The normal eyes and green skin could be a 1st Gen., but only if the eyes are brown, dark blue, or custom (or you're Johnny Smith, who likes to defy genetics).

Well, there has been some other alien activity in Pleasantview. Let's not forget Bella... that will all eventually factor into my story too. I love that little detail about the alien ancestors in the Caliente family.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I was using the same idea as the name Summerdream for my name. That comes from A Midsummer Night's Dream, of course, but I thought the way the two nouns were combined worked well as a way of coming up with other names of the faery variety. I may keep it, since it's amusing, but I may change the last half (which was -wind).

It's cool to have a running theme like that. I tend to just open books around the room to get names a lot of the time, so I end up with famous people and model names, types of plants, or fabric most of the time. Or food. I have a lot of cookbooks.

So you sometimes have the wrong person propose marriage? I would just change it in SimPE. I often give sims a temporary name (like the Llama Dance Party sims were all named Rocker at first), and then change it when I'm sure about it. I intend to do hyphenated marriage names for some sims too (like Jill Smith wouldn't change her name, I'm sure). I'm not a fan of having the woman always taking the man's name.

Yes, another stab at getting Jayne into my Top Model.

(I love the pic of Jolene, with PT calling to her in the background--". . .what are you doing, girl? GET over HERE!")

*rubs hands* I can't wait to start up Top Model.

[grins]
The eyebrows were the deal sealer for sure, though thats a damn fine jaw too. You did magnificently on him.

It's nice to hear I'm not the only metal-case who likes sim stats to be right. It's what makes them, well, them. That was why that damn spreadsheet started & oh-my-god. [headdesk]

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
His eyebrows and jaw are amazing, but his mouth is a kissable work of art. I'm downloading him to try to breed my own Jayne. ^_^
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, please try to download her again. I really want to see her and her killer eyebrows in your Top Model thing. Let me know if you have any more issues. She should be completely cc free and basegame only now.

Yeah, I like that shot too. He's cheering on her performance at school, but she's already moving on to something else. *snicker* PT's getting a little slow in his old age.

When do you start up, anyway?
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Why, thank you. I did base him on a uniquely handsome man, so he should get the credit for the impressive manly features. I wonder how Mr. Doe will hold up as an elder (he's almost there in my game), since his inspiration has aged very well indeed.

I'm so obsessive about the personality stats. I don't mind writing a character that's a little off the stats (or creatively interpreting what those figures might actually mean), but I don't like things to be too off. Like taking Orion Curious, for example, and making him an ambitious fortune sim. That would be wrong to me. There are other factors, like background, to consider, but I take a lot of my ideas for characters from those stats. So no... you're not the only one. You always have me.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Your own Jayne? How cool. ^_^ I want to see. I wonder how his kids with a different PT would look? (Sadly, his second alien child was from the same PT, I'm pretty sure).

I like the mouth too, and it ends up really top-heavy on a female. That's how the difference in male and female lips is worked out in the game. The males have much less of a top lip. Jayne's lips even get these sort of odd lines in them from certain angles, because they are so extreme.
