That's pretty much my take on what happened here.

Ripp didn't think Johnny'd even humour him. Johnny had to do it, because it was like a dare at that point and he couldn't let Ripp get the better of him. Then he ups the ante and throws in a bit of a tackle to get the better of Ripp. But you can't get the better of Ripp at this game, because Ripp likes anything.

Everybody wins? XD
