Sims Talk: Question about Pregnancy and University

I have a couple of questions. I know that I can use InSIM to make a YA sim pregnant while at university, but how does one go about having the baby? If a sim got knocked up, and then dropped out of uni, would they still be pregnant and have the baby normally once they transitioned? Can you do it at any stage in the pregnancy (or do you have to do it before they "pop")? I heard that you can't move the baby, once born, unless you age them to teen, which is not good for a story, but moving out a pregnant sim would be perfect if it works. I tried to find the answer to this question on my own, but my searching only unearthed the answer, "you can't get pregnant at uni unless you use a hack", which I already knew. I need more detail, and I know that someone reading this must already know the answer. I really appreciate your help!

Why do I ask? Oh, no reason... *wink* Just weighing my options.

What if you had the baby in Uni, aged them to teen and moved them out, then aged them back to a baby again?

It would be so much easier if I could just move the pregnant sim out (since that's probably the way I would go with this in a plot too, and they could "finish uni" via distance education (aka the Lot DeBugger). I sort of worry that the aging up and then aging back might do weird things to the sim, but maybe it's perfectly okay to do that. I don't know... anyone?

I tend to be wary of "aging" a sim to an early life stage. Has anyone done that before, with positive results?

You should be able to move them out aging may cause a suspension of the pregnancy though so you may need to reset it via Tombstone once back in the main hood. Changing lots generally causes some pregnancy issues, either suspension or premature 'pops'.

I've experienced the premature or delayed pop from changing lots before. If that's the worst of it, I'm not worried.

I suppose that I could always just fake the pregnancy while in uni... and then "resume" it when they drop out with InSIM. Or just reset it like you said. It's an option if they don't stay pregnant when they drop out.

Thanks!

If you have InTeen, your sims can get pregnat at Uni, and when they leave college, the baby will come with them.

I say practice it on a sim you don't care about.

I'd go into a completely different hood and run an experiment to see if you can get a YA to look preggo. Really all you need to do is get pics of the sim preggo. Then you could abort the pregnancy, do all the moving and restart the pregnancy once they move out.

Or, if it doesn't work out, have an implied pregnancy. Show the sim sick and then show them moved out and visibly preggo (or move them out and invite them to the college lot, the difference in looks between YA and adult is small, as long as they have the same hair/makeup you should be able to fake it).

I wonder if you can find a preggo mesh, like the preggo teen mesh. That would be ideal. All the makings of pregnancy without the fuss.

I think madame_ugly is right. Try it out on someone first to see. I've had a YA get pregnant no prob, but I ended the pregnancy. Hmm.....I must say thou, I am also somewhat interested in the answer to this question.

And GOD WOMAN!!!!!! Could you be anymore of a tease?!?!?! GEEZ!!!!

Want to start a preggo pool?

My money's on Jill Smith.

I aim to tease. *waits for groans*

*Raises hand* I had a sim get pregnant in uni, and I was able to move her out (while pregnant) and make her have the baby as an adult no problem. The only change I noticed was that she suddenly skipped to her third trimester for no real reason, but she and her babies are all fine and glitch-less. Of course, I had inTeen installed when this happened, so I don't know if it'll work the same way without it :/

Hmmm. Thanks for the tip. I don't use InTeen, and I probably won't be adding it, since I believe you can't have InSIM and InTeen at the same time (am I right?). I have to admit to being pretty ignorant about InTeen, and I don't really know much about it besides its teen woohoo and pregnancy functions.

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. Why am I not surprised that you're the one to start this?

So, Jill Smith would make sense, but you can't have a pool without options, so who else is there? Phi's not doing anything with anybody, neither are Jayne and Stella. We don't know anything about Bottom. Unless one of the guys gets abducted, who else would it be but Jill?

That's a good idea, but the problem is finding a sim I don't care about at all. I may have to go to uni in Veronaville and pick a random dormie. I'm such a sap.

I think you're probably right about faking it out. I can always get the sim pregnant and then abort it with InSIM before they leave uni. The baby's genetics are determined at birth, not conception, anyway, so it's not like that would matter.

The preggo mesh is a good idea, in theory, but I think that the InSIM route might be the better way to go.

*non-stop cursing* And believe me, I can curse for quite a long time with few clean words in between!

*continues to curse in more than one language*

How do you know that Jayne isn't doing it with anyone? She has been romantically involved with someone, but we haven't seen exactly how involved.

Just saying.

[identity profile] sinderellah.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
That was my first thought!!

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Who? Besides Johnny and Stella, who else is there? Johnny's still with Phi at this point (unless that changes), and I don't think Stella would pollinate Jayne when she knows that she plans to settle down with Johnny in the future.

So, you do realize that I now have to go back and re-read all the entries with her, right?

*still cursing her head off*

Well, that sounds promising. Though, like the poster above mentioned, InTeen may have been a factor. I have no problem with skipped trimesters, and such. I can adjust that with InSIM, anyway.

Thank you for weighing in!

Pregnancy tests! Awesome. But I wish they were in simlish... then they would be perfect.
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you're right... Stella wouldn't do that. I just thought you might have missed the fact that Stella could pollinate her.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Heehee. Go ahead and place bets. I can't say anything yet about who may or may not get knocked up, though.
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I needed to know, and there's not exactly any way to ask this without raising suspicions about why I'm asking... *grin*

Oooh. Bilingual cursing is fun.

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no, I'm all over the situation! Sure, Stella could but, she wouldn't. At least, not at during college.

Don't try to confuse me.......hmph.

But, to keep all of the options open here, remember that just because people aren't having sex right now, doesn't mean that they won't be... and condoms can break (especially if the user is inexperienced). A number of these sims have slept with a lot of other sims. It could be almost anyone, really.

Have I thrown you off the scent yet? *snicker*
