Sims Talk: Question about Pregnancy and University

I have a couple of questions. I know that I can use InSIM to make a YA sim pregnant while at university, but how does one go about having the baby? If a sim got knocked up, and then dropped out of uni, would they still be pregnant and have the baby normally once they transitioned? Can you do it at any stage in the pregnancy (or do you have to do it before they "pop")? I heard that you can't move the baby, once born, unless you age them to teen, which is not good for a story, but moving out a pregnant sim would be perfect if it works. I tried to find the answer to this question on my own, but my searching only unearthed the answer, "you can't get pregnant at uni unless you use a hack", which I already knew. I need more detail, and I know that someone reading this must already know the answer. I really appreciate your help!

Why do I ask? Oh, no reason... *wink* Just weighing my options.

Well, that's very interesting. Thanks for sharing! How did you age PT back to toddler?

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, inteen does that too.

Well.......I guess besides the risky woohoo, there's nothing else. Does insim have birth control and fertility drugs? Cuz inteen does!

And, if you plan the "oopsie," then you can't really call it an oopsie. :P

If you can't get pregnant from woohoo, then that counts as birth control. What do the fertility drugs do? Allow for more than twins?

Oh, it's not an "oopsie" for me. Not at all. Now, as for my characters... they might not see it coming. *evil grin*

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, no twins, but you know those couples where you have them try for a baby like ten times with no lullaby? Well, the drugs increase the chance of getting pregnant. Not a huge advantage, but it's there.

Don't you just love playing god with these sims? MWAHAHAHA!!!!

*SNORT*

What an awesome typo.

Yes, I meant "garden implement" not "woman of loose morals".

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Must be a "sims thing". *snicker*

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yes I can personally vouch that male YA's who get abducted have a suspended pregnancy during their time at Uni, then pop after you graduate them/drop them out and move them into a lot in the home neighborhood. My Edwin Sharpe had twins thata way, lol. (wink)

I'm SURE it would also work for a female YA. I can test it for you to see if you'd like. I have a YA at Uni right now who needs to drop out and go home to live in shame. (hee hee, snort)

[identity profile] ikichi.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
It *could* be Stella... condoms do break, after all...

[identity profile] amaryssobellus.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Because of all the "NO DON'T DO IT, IT WILL CAUSE VERY BAD THINGS" that I've heard about doing that I would suggest to just act like the sim is pregnant, take her out of uni and then actually get her pregnant. Just so it's safer for your game, in case you're that 1% or whatever that the game implodes on from doing this. :)

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, it works!

Here's my test sim, Corrine. Isn't she cute?

Photobucket

I used the Insim to make her pregnant by her boyfriend, and then just for shits and giggles, also used it to force the first belly pop (since I'm not sure it would do it naturally.)

Photobucket

"Um, Daddy? I'm in a little bit of trouble here and I need to come home..."

Photobucket

Here she is as she transitioned. You can see she still has the baby bump!

Photobucket

Here she is leaving the dorm, still sporting that bump!

In the Sim Bin back in Strangetown, she was dressed in Maxis maternity clothes. I dropped her into her father's house and here she is as I first re-entered the lot, wearing Maxis maternity clothes and looking nine months along, lol.

Photobucket

But one Sim hour later, she popped back into the 2nd trimester, and from here I assume she will have a normal pregnancy.

Hope this helps!!

Oh sweet! I saw your post just before I left (I took my sister to her job interview, so I spent almost three hours inside the car waiting for her :P) and now that I'm back I find a pregnancy pool going on here! :D

I've never tried to get a YA pregnant. I was even afraid of messing up my game when I sent Cosmo to college, and I needed to control him for a "scene" at his house. So, instead of using the original Cosmo, I made a clone :P.

But back to the pool thing... I'm placing my bet on either Frances getting abducted or Tank (with the girl from the party or by aliens... it makes no sense but it'd be hilarious!). It could be Jill too, but with who?

I love to speculate! :P

[identity profile] 80sfiend.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
I had a pregnant university student (see icon), I just moved her out to her own house and let her have the baby. I have Inteen though so I'm not sure how that affects everything but it went fine. And by the time she was finished university her son was a teen and she graduated and he just went with her in the car. :D

So I think you'll be fine. :P

Also...PLEASE let it be Jill and Ripp!! *please* :D :D *crosses fingers* That would make my whole year.

...yes I have no life. Do not mock me. :P

Okay, so it worked for you too? That's nice to know. Thanks for sharing!

If it worked for a male, I'm sure it would work for a female, once they are made pregnant. I find it funny that they let the alien pregnancies slip by the uni rules. It's kind of like how they forget about the aliens with other features, like the heatstroke from Seasons (which looks really dumb on aliens).

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. Well, that brings my worry back. Have there been reports of "very bad things" happening? I really don't want to see the game implode. That wouldn't be good.

Maybe I will go the faking route afterall. It wouldn't be hard to do. I could use InSIM to make the sim pregnant for photos, and then choose not to save it.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for testing this out! It seems to work just fine. The thing where she switched to an advanced stage of pregnancy on her home lot was something I've noticed before when moving a pregnant sim in general, so that doesn't worry me.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Your sister must appreciate that, or I would hope so, anyway. That was very nice of you!

Yeah, a pregnancy pool started up. :P We all love to speculate, don't we? It's fun to see what people think and suspect, but they might be surprised by what I'm actually planning. We'll have to wait and see.

Those are some good ideas, but I won't say anything to give it away. It would be pretty crazy if it was Tank and the aliens, though. He would not be impressed by that at all.

I've made clones like that before, in situations where I could easily have used InSIM. For uni students, it's easy enough to invite them over to a lot in the main 'hood (or summon them), and then make them selectable with InSIM. I don't think that this has any negative effects, as long as it's not close to finals time (time passes for the uni student while they are controlled, so the semester keeps rolling onward). InSIM helps me to cut back on clone creation.

It was actually my first natural abduction; I'd used a few cheats until that point to get other sims grabbed, but I took that hack out and was using the expensive 'scope on the dorm lot. Nine students on that lot, one controllable, every one of them taking turns staring through the thing, and Ripp manages to get grabbed. I felt both worried over how it would show in his memories and ecstatic over it happening without my cheats for once. I'm a horrible horrible person.

[identity profile] amaryssobellus.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
Well I had heard reports way back when, and that was enough to scare me off. I still see everyonce in a while some post on Thesims community where someone said that they had an adult in uni then moved everyone back to the main neighborhood and the adult didn't come with.

In the guide it says that your YA won't get pregnant because noone but YA are supposed to live in a University, so why mess with a good thing?

Personally, I'm a big coward and wouldn't want anything to mess with my game so I would go with the fake pregnancy.

*gasp*

Oooooo....

*curiosity almost getting the better of me*

I have nothing useful to add (I've never tried getting a student pregnant), just that I'm really, really, really looking forward to see what this question might signify ;)

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
True, true.

But an oopsie baby for Stella doesn't have the same dramatic bite as an oopsie baby for Jill.

The Jill route is predictable, but so delicious.

First I had someone resurrect him that knew him before he'd died then I moved him out of that house and onto a vacant lot. Then I put in the agesim cheat and turned him back into a toddler. Of course that meant that the social worker immediately showed up and whisked him away. Then I just had the family that I wanted to raise him call and adopt him.
My idea at the time was that, since he's a pure alien, that some scientists had cloned him and then gave him to a family to raise without telling them his background.
I checked through the pictures I still have from my old Strangetown and found this one. That's PT (Tristen) as a teen. I used the agesim cheat to change him back to an adult this time around too. As an elder he doesn't hang around long enough.

People have been saying that it works with InTeen, but I also get the impression that this can work anyway, as long as they don't give birth. I may still decide to fake it, just to be safe. InSIM makes faking it easy.

Jill and Ripp? I won't say anything... but you're really hoping for that, aren't you? Do you really think that it would be good for them if that happened? I can't see Ripp being too impressed.

Only time will tell what my plans are for this... and I'm not even 100% sure if my current plans will go ahead, but there is a very good chance that someone will get pregnant while attending LFT. A very good chance.

Oh, he's cute! *grin* I love him. Tristan is a nice name too.

That's interesting. There are so many ways to work around things like that in the game. Once adopted, he kept his memories? It breaks family ties, though, right?

[identity profile] ikichi.livejournal.com 2008-03-27 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Plus, Jill's oopsie baby could be in Buck... ::/evil grin::
