Sims Talk: Question about Pregnancy and University

I have a couple of questions. I know that I can use InSIM to make a YA sim pregnant while at university, but how does one go about having the baby? If a sim got knocked up, and then dropped out of uni, would they still be pregnant and have the baby normally once they transitioned? Can you do it at any stage in the pregnancy (or do you have to do it before they "pop")? I heard that you can't move the baby, once born, unless you age them to teen, which is not good for a story, but moving out a pregnant sim would be perfect if it works. I tried to find the answer to this question on my own, but my searching only unearthed the answer, "you can't get pregnant at uni unless you use a hack", which I already knew. I need more detail, and I know that someone reading this must already know the answer. I really appreciate your help!

Why do I ask? Oh, no reason... *wink* Just weighing my options.

And not out of the box. Ewww.

Yeah, what's up with that? Are those testers?

It could also be a guy. Your aliens have been acting all wacky lately, abducting in broad daylight an all.

If it's alien my money's on Frances (just because I'm dieing to see a Frances/alien hybrid).

But I'm still going with the "safe" bet and Jill. I don't see you "wasting" a good drama dump on a character that borders on secondary (like Stella and those). And PT would soil himself if his little girl was "in trouble".

Mmm, drama so good, like candy in my mouth.

More speculation now that I think about it more...

Hmm hypothetically, if Jayne wanted to try to "help Johnny change his mind" re: Marriage, dumping Ophelia, etc, she could possibly get knocked up by him. But that would mean him cheating on Phi which he won't do... he felt guilty just going for coffee/etc with Jayne, as well as sex before marriage! Something I can see his younger sister experimenting with, but he's too much of a good boy for that.

Perhaps if Jayne really does not get married to Johnny, I can see her getting pregnant via Stella. She does really believe in preserving the alien race so if she wanted to "do her part" I could see her doing this but more as a last resort.

Unless Ripp has an accident with one of his conquests, but I would think he's playing it safe and invests in condoms. I know I would if I was one of the girls on campus and having an encounter with him!! XD

Do you still have Pleasantview? Attach Sim State and use some of the boring "template" face offerings there (they're really dullsville in that maxis college).

Or experiment on a townie teen.

I use Pleasantview for experiments all the time.

Yeah, I probably will go for it at Sim State. I need to test this out now, just out of curiosity.

Those are good theories, but I won't comment further.

Yes, it's time to raise the drama stakes around here. These kids haven't even started their breeding careers yet, so the potential for drama is immense.

Oh, excellent! Thank you! Getting stuck in the first trimester is a drag, but they do eventually have the child, after they transition? I'll still test it, to be safe, but that really reassures me.

You have Johnny figured out. It would take a lot to wear down his prudish resolve.

And Ripp is playing it so safe that he probably doubles up on condoms (not really a good idea, but the boys is not really all that bright *snort*). Or maybe he uses the man pill... and that might explain why he gets so emotional. I definitely see him as a "use as many birth control methods as possible at all times" kind of guy. His "chain of condoms" that he keeps in his pocket has already been mentioned (how he fits them all, I don't know. It's like a magic pocket, I guess).

I'm gonna play the incredibly evil devil's advocate and lay my bet on Ripp. Maybe Stella "accidentally" pollinated him during one of their meet-ups. Yeah. Oh god, I'm horrible. You'd think I didn't like the boy...

Oh, they have the kid no problem if you drop 'em out. My first Ripp had a little problem like that (and I still have the twins cloned to prove it) during his junior year, and I had to drop him out. The only minor thing was he'd had the first baby pop in the dorm, but it vanished when he aged to an adult. At 6 that evening on the lot, he popped right back into it, so everything should still go smoothly.

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I know it could be anyone. Lord knows if you want someone to get pregnant, they can and will. I'm just saying that certain people don't seem like likely candidates at this point in time. For some, for the storyline they seem to be following, it also doesn't look likely.

And hell, it's not like a pregnancy needs requires sex in the sim world. Especially in Strangetown, all it takes is a telescope, a probe, and a guy's booty. ;)

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally have both InTeen and Insim in my game at this very moment. Oh, and it didn't explode. You ever want to try it out, just let me know. :D

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
*SNORT* "man pill"

He needs that midol in that download set. Poor emotional wreck.

And pulling one string of rubbers out of your pocket is no weider than pulling a mop/ho/car/piano/what the hell ever out of your ASS, like sims seem to do.

Okay. You see, I wasn't lying about being grossly ignorant. Maybe what I'm thinking of is the fact that they do mostly the same thing, so having both is sort of redundant... though obviously you have both, so you must have some good reason to have both. Care to enlighten me?

[identity profile] simplode.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Please, tell me you meant, "hoe". Although....

Beware of plot twists... they could happen. But, mostly, you're right. Some of the characters are less likely to fall prey to this sort of blunder. That makes it all the more fun if it does happen, though.

In my version of Strangetown, the alien pregnancies do still involve sex. The "probe" you speak of isn't a piece of lab equipment, remember. :D

You have to love sim realism, where they can steal your car and stuff it into a tiny sack!

Ripp not only buys his condoms in bulk, but he carries them ALL with him at all times. (And he doesn't really need condoms anyway, because he has no genitals! *snicker*)
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
No, I'd say they could pull just about anything out of their ass (pocket).
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Heheh. Ripp is never completely safe from pregnancy, with the amount of sex he has. And Stella is new to condom use, so this theory is not completely off the wall...

I will test this out. Thanks! :)

The pregnant sim definitely does not have to be a female. When abduction is a possibility, almost anyone is a potential target (and females can get alien pregnant too for the purposes of this story).

Thanks for the input! This is exactly what I needed to hear. The testimony of someone who has already done it. This is good news.

Was that a natural abduction for your first Ripp?

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I had inteen first, which I used for teen pregnancies, risky woohoo, adult/teen hookups, that sort of stuff. I'm pretty sure that I haven't used insim as much as I could be. I didn't realize that teens could get pregnant with it, but I guess it's possible.

Though with insim, you can do almost everything, I think that you actually have to do it, whereas with inteen, woohooing with tons of people can lead to pregnancy without actually having them try for a baby. The first one I got, was this crazy romance sim. When she got pregnant, I honestly didn't know who the father was, which is kind of cool, if you want that kind of mystery in the game.

Uhm....I honestly couldn't tell you if they are things that inteen can do that insim can't. I guess I'm just used to having inteen in my game, so I keep it in.

(Also, I know you had Jill and Ripp makeout, but I didn't realize that insim could allow adult/teen relationships. I assumed you had inteen for that. :P)

I can't answer your question for Uni but I have aged a sim that was an elder (and had died) into a toddler.
It was good old PT 9 and I had him resurrected and then aged him into a toddler. He grew into a teen before my game went 'splat' and that was the end of that.
He still had all his memories and his connections to his children (which was wild that his children were having children while he was in diapers) but I didn't have any problems with him. The only odd thing was that he had a want for something like gain a cooking skill point or something like that and he kept that want all through the toddler phase.
I had done this before I even knew about insim, simpe or making clones.
I've also aged back to adulthood Jon Smith and Jennicor Tricou although I've not aged them back further then that. I had no trouble before and I've had no trouble this time, either.

InSIM allows you to set teens to an age group called "independent teen", where they still look like teens, but behave as adults, which I guess allows them to function as they would with InTeen. I aged Jill up to this category for her scenes with Ripp, but I didn't leave her as an independent teen, since I'm not sure what all of the consequences of that would be.

I do like the idea of random pregnancies through risky woohoo, but probably not enough to install InTeen. I'm going to plan my "oopsies". ;)
