Genetic issue and toddler spam...

Can you believe it's taken me all of one day to run into an odd little snag in my legacy? Yeah, I figured. I'm a magnet for this sort of thing. My alien spawn(s) don't have green skin! I went with [livejournal.com profile] stakeit_uk's PT set, and according to her page, there's no cc in the package at all (for me to remove or otherwise mess up), but the offspring have normal skintones. In the PT's family tree shot, he shows up with pooklet's skintone, so do you think that might be the issue? Or is it because Greene is a plantsim? This seems like the same thing that was happening to [livejournal.com profile] madame_ugly just recently, but I was sure I was working with a cc-free PT set.

I'm sort of liking the results, so I'm not too worried, but it'd be nice to know what's going on all the same.

I actually had the same problem with that same PT-set, and as much as I adore it, I had to pull it. It was definitely frustrating and if anyone figures out the issue, I'd love to know the answer. [also, I believe [livejournal.com profile] stakeit_uk is a boy, by the way. :P]

I don't know about the PT issue... how do they show up in the Sim bin? Perhaps you can rebuild the set using the same sims if there's any kind of problem?

On the other hand... squeeee! That is, quite possibly, the cutest toddler ever. x]

For some reason I always thought it was possible that offspring from a PT could produce babies that didn't have the alien skintone?

If you wanted to check if it is actually meant to have the skintone, you could use the Sim DNA cheat, which I don't actually know the right code for, but I've seen/heard others using it. It will tell you all kinds of things about your sim, including any recessives they might carry, dominant facial features, and what skintone they have.

So you might not have a problem at all!

Sim genetics intrigue me, so I did some poking around and I think I can explain this!

According to SimPE, all the PTs in that download set have a custom data string (c69331d4-4fd4-a2fb-f8be-888944421674) listed as the skintone, instead of the one for the default alien skin (6baf064a-85ad-4e37-8d81-a987e9f8da46). So at best guess, your spawn are falling afoul of deleted skin syndrome: custom genetics in the character file, but S1 in game.

In the case of my PT issue, their pics in the family tree showed them with their custom green skin (like yours). BUT, in CAS, the character files had a regular skin tone (S1 for all).

I think mystefaction figured it out, so you're sadly in the same boat as me. You'd probably have to rebuild the whole PT set to get the minty-ness you crave.

As for the spawn, she's cute so no harm no foul (and alien eyes on regular skin is all kinds of awesome, so bonus there).

You don't have to rebuild the set. You can just change the PTs to use the correct alien skintone in simpe.
