Story Talk

Been thinking about moving forward with Strangetown, here we come, and I think it might be in my best interest to skip what I've been referring to (at least in my own mind) as "the Veronaville chapter." It's sort of an aside, but one I was personally interested in taking at the time. Now, I'm not so sure. Skipping it would still leave an opening to do it later (even if in a sort of goofy "So what exactly did you do in Veronaville, Vidcund?" *cue flashback* sort of lead-in — but hey, nobody ever said this wouldn't be ham-fisted). Or, if I'm not feeling it, I can just refer to the essentials and let the rest drop (though I'll probably get around to it after I get my groove back, methinks).

I just think a trip to the Smith household might be the right thing to do right now. I think I could get my head back into that story again, and the dynamics of that family. Might just drop by there later and take some pics, then work on the text, the way I used to, at least for the bits I haven't already worked out.

Or I might just spend the night watching more Lost instead. The SO and I finally obtained the first season (from the LIBRARY! Boooyeah!), and we're having fun with it. Oh, and please don't spoil, okay? I want to continue my streak of managing to remain unspoiled about things far longer than I should. I watched The Sixth Sense for the first time almost five years after it was released and I was still surprised by the twist ending! I'm not sure how I managed that one, to be honest, but that's one of the benefits of living in a cave, perhaps? :P

That side kinda does work both ways though - working hard at something CAN make it enjoyable as long as you make yourself find the right things in the medium to make it what you want it. A "bad chapter" could just be a chapter you want to miss because there is something cooler and seemingly more fun to do; but the grass isn't greener on the other side, you were just looking at a Photoshopped picture the whole time.. It's a Nuclear holocaust, really... Honest!
You need to look at that Chapter and think that it's the coolest part yet, and the best way of taking the story which you just KNOW everyone will love to read. As you wright it you look back and think to yourself that there is room for some Inside jokes, or Easter Eggs to be used! You gotta look at the thing *without* anything else - more like a Dabble. A long, Personal and Unique, story-flowing, Drabble.

I say Cheesy like the same way I say Photoskinned. TRUFAXLOLOL. xD
*Totally had Philladelphia today*

URGHHHH~!
The Dreaded Flashbacks are SO annoying! I personally like the ones which start almost unrelated, and then slowly more and more of the events make sense and you feel like a detective when you worked it out for youself - and then through Dramatic Irony kinda know what is going to happen next.
The Big *Blurs into Seemingly realistic Long Memory scene with exessive details* flashbacks are more like DREAMS in my eyes, because NOONE remembers everything like that, Or can Narrate like that, really.. But I am fine with Narrative because it feels like it's something important that has to be shared, so the great super-memory thing is OK as you normally remember important things like that.

"OH GOSH GUYZ, I'M STARTING TO FADE OUT INTO FLASHBACK! Sorry, but you lot are all gonna be frozen while I think about an event which happened to me some time ago which could be relevent..."

[iPhone-written, so I bet there are Typos to be found, SORRY! :)]
