Story Talk

Been thinking about moving forward with Strangetown, here we come, and I think it might be in my best interest to skip what I've been referring to (at least in my own mind) as "the Veronaville chapter." It's sort of an aside, but one I was personally interested in taking at the time. Now, I'm not so sure. Skipping it would still leave an opening to do it later (even if in a sort of goofy "So what exactly did you do in Veronaville, Vidcund?" *cue flashback* sort of lead-in — but hey, nobody ever said this wouldn't be ham-fisted). Or, if I'm not feeling it, I can just refer to the essentials and let the rest drop (though I'll probably get around to it after I get my groove back, methinks).

I just think a trip to the Smith household might be the right thing to do right now. I think I could get my head back into that story again, and the dynamics of that family. Might just drop by there later and take some pics, then work on the text, the way I used to, at least for the bits I haven't already worked out.

Or I might just spend the night watching more Lost instead. The SO and I finally obtained the first season (from the LIBRARY! Boooyeah!), and we're having fun with it. Oh, and please don't spoil, okay? I want to continue my streak of managing to remain unspoiled about things far longer than I should. I watched The Sixth Sense for the first time almost five years after it was released and I was still surprised by the twist ending! I'm not sure how I managed that one, to be honest, but that's one of the benefits of living in a cave, perhaps? :P

I say: Do whatever you feel is the best option for where you want to do. If you feel like your cutting across the grain - ask yourself how long it will be till you find the main line again.
If you do want to go back to the Smith Household, then that big Dramatic ending which you had of Johnny would bring you back to the Mainland in terms of the Story's Center, but if this Veronaville chapter needs to be now so you can refer to it in the not-so-far future, then it could make more sense to go for it now so its not an awkward (or cheesy) part later.

I think once you start LOST it's highly addictive. When I was turned onto it I watched it marathon-style to catch up. So much fun - especially when you have someone there to watch and therorize with. So many details to mull over and keep track of.

I love getting shows that have plenty of episodes already so I can watch them non-stop for a while, like catching up with SHWC. ;)

Maybe visit the Smith house, if it doesn't jump out and bite you, dabble with the Veronaville stuff. Or visa versa.

While I really enjoy your writing of the JRO, you did leave the cliffhanger of Johnny sitting on the front porch and Jayne going over to talk to him. So, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens...

I'm curious about the Vid and Bo Summerdream story. You've hinted at a possible romance between them, at least I interpreted there to be one. And I would like to see if Vid could possibly have a relationship as an equal instead of being manipulated by the Strangetown females.

Would what Vid does in Veronaville have any bearing on the events that are to occur back in Strangetown? You know, like cause and effect; the chicken and the egg; etc...?

Can't spoil Lost for you, never watched it.

If my suggestions are not to your liking, please disregard, sorry to have bothered you. Anyway look forward to your next update.

Your fans/readers will be here patiently totally not minding what you do with the story or when you will post again as long as you are fine and having fun outside of LJ (gasp...there's life outside LJ? haha jk)

meanwhile I will be enjoying the delicious previous chapters.

Have fun watching Lost, I also avoid spoilers but recently I was reading a website on the public's certain character reception and it spoiled it w/like no warning >_> boo.

have a sweet week :D

It would be awesome to look in on the Smiths again. And with Lost, there's kind of a lull early in Season 2, but it picks up again pretty quickly. You don't notice it as much on DVD, but I always feel obliged to warn people so they don't quit at that point, like I did. I got back to it last year and became such a fan that I have to post anon, because all my icons are Lost-related and most feature a character you haven't met yet. It's totally worth your while.

(a longtime reader of yours whose journal is spoilery too, oh god don't look)

Ah, Lost. The best sci-fi/ drama/ romance show featuring polar bears ;)

And I agree with anon. Don't let the boring bits in season 2 slow you down- they build up to the later seasons and it's all worth it in the end. Oh and BTW, you must watch the 'Mysteries of the Universe' segment on the season 5 bonus features, because it is epic.

Lordy do I have a lot of journal entries to catch up on! Damn you, SATs!
