Triffids. Terrible, terrible triffids.

So... I borrowed The Chrysalids and The Day of the Triffids from a friend, and now I'm sort of hooked on reading John Wyndham. These are great books. If you haven't read them, I'd highly recommend checking them out. I'm going to have to seek out more of his stuff, I think.

Hmm. Now why do I have the sudden urge to make S,HWC more post-apocalyptic? ;)

I was amused that NL only became inhabitable after a change in climate caused by a nuclear disaster. I mean, why would people live here otherwise? They'd have to be crazy. *raises hand* (And hey, it's a gorgeous sunny day here today, so suck on that, rest of the world!)

I really enjoyed Neon Genesis Evangelion. I guess I'm just a sucker for the post-apocalyptic thing, and I love all the pseudo-religious elements too. Well, I do until they go way too far with it in the movie ending. It was like crosses... blood... crosses exploding into more blood... and the actual impact of the whole thing was just lost after you became numb to the entended variations on the theme. They lost me at the end.

In fact, I think I prefer the original series ending, which leaves you more confused and wondering if that was really all there was. (But, that's a whole other discussion...)

They are good icons. And you're right about it being a superb Canadian joke. The polite thing is just played out, though it is true. (My SO got pulled over for a ticket the other day and he actually thanked the police officer at the end! We laughed.)

(Sorry for all the editing. My spelling is awful today.)
