WTF happened to my images (again)?

I'll start by saying thank you. Yes, a big thank you to everyone who's been reading my latest update, because there really has to be quite a few of you out there. I'm a little blown away, to be frank. You've made short work of my PB bandwidth, and considering that it's only that one chapter on the account, this seems like it will continue to be a problem.

So I'm going to have to figure out how to use a client to upload to my lj scrapbook (the one at a time method ain't gonna fly). If anyone has a client or a simple tutorial they'd like to recommend, I would be very appreciative. I'm going to try to get that last update up again as soon as I can.

Also, this image just fits the WTF theme so well:

Getting randomly jumped by (your twin!) Rufus Wainwright, right in front of your boyfriend (who doesn't seem to care). Now THAT is a weird shit day.

Yeah, sure, Beau. Good call on that one. :P

Also, the kitchen decoration Ripp wants is a collection of wine bottles. Tsk, tsk. Some people are just hopeless.

oh my goodness, your e-popularity is crazy, ST. That sucks. Would an e-blowjob make you feel better? :P

LOL at Rufus and Frances making out. That's like... self-cest. It's kind of gross.

Well, I'm not about to the be the first person in the history of the universe to turn down a blowjob, e or otherwise. :P

Well, it's no worse than Ripp and Sugar Tits, is it? (But somehow you just expect it from Ripp.)

Hehe, I was hoping you'd say that! *prepares*

Actually, I was just thinking about how creepy that was last night. Ripp was, for all intents and purposes, going to fuck himself. What if the Servo had been male- would the urge have been there?

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent. Now... to find my e-peen. (It's detachable.)

Well, the difference between a male and female Servo is literally just a bow and lipstick. It's interesting food for thought when it comes to sexuality. Who better to dive in there than Ripp?

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That must suck if you misplace it. :(

That's really, really interesting. I wish he would have made it male. :P

I use this client, which is pretty easy. You just install it into your registry, and as long as you have the 'show common tasks' in the folder option selected, when you click on the X on the folder tab, you get that control panel underneath. You can upload an entire folder or just a few pictures that way. It took me a while to figure out at first, because I didn't know how to get the control panel view thingie. If you have the right view selected, you can toggle it with the folders button too.

This is assuming you have windows and you can follow my lame instructions, of course!

And to Ripp, I'm sure she'd make a lovely kitchen decoration!

Thanks! That looks like it's simple enough. *knocks on wood* I'll give this a try when I get back from work this evening.

*snicker* I think Ripp wants her to be more functional than that.

As long as you've got your view options set the right way, it is so simple. My only problem with using it, is that sometimes I click twice when I log in, and even though it's paused as it authenticates your log in, it remembers the double click, and skips past the 'select folder' screen right to the last one, which is very annoying, but easily fixable.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. Okay. I'm going to have to go through your instructions, and try to get that all to make sense. I'm sure it will, once I get hands on with it.

[identity profile] naughtydolphin.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I can try to write them up better if you like :) It's still early in the morning here, and I didn't get much sleep last night, so I may not be as eloquent as I might be at other times!
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'm sure it's fine, but I'm not great at making sense of things like this by just reading them. I'll take a look at in a couple of hours, when I get back from work. If I'm confused after that, I may have to ask you a few questions.

Thank you for your help! ^_^

I was uploading some pictures anyway, so I just threw this together. I hope that explains it a bit better for you!

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for that! :)

I just noticed, though, that it's for XP and I have Vista. Of course, I only noticed it AFTER I had added it to the registry. I hope that's not going to mess anything up. *worries*

It doesn't look the way it looks on your tutorial, but I'm going to play around some more to see if I can get it to work.

I hope it still works! If not, hopefully [livejournal.com profile] aledstrange's suggestion works!

Yeah, I'm going to check out semagic too. It seems nearly dummy-proof, which is perfect for me. :P I need hand-holding.

[identity profile] naughtydolphin.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried the dragging the image into semagic and posting bit, and holy hell it is that easy. I might have to start doing it that way from now on! You can choose what gallery you want the pictures to go into, but I'd still post it as a private entry until I'm sure that it all worked right.

[identity profile] simgarooop.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)

Whoa, that was fast! You only uploaded the entry two days ago!

(not that it's surprising, your story is amazing :) )

I have no idea about another client, I'm too used to photobucket and the one time I tried to use LJ, I was sick by the fifth picture I uploaded, it was just too slow!

From this entry, I noticed your pictures are around 200Kb-300Kb. Back when I had Photobucket issues, my pictures were that size, so I stopped saving them with the highest quality. I still use high quality, but try to keep them under 150kb. Of course, I guess the quality is affected by this, and your pictures lately have been so pretty :).

I hope you find a solution for the PB problem. And those two pictures are so funny! Frances looks so surprised!

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well that's a very good point. It's probably not the traffic as much as the increase in image size (or a combination of both). I do like the image quality as it is, so I'm going to try to get a client to work for me, and go from there. I agree that the lj scrapbook is far too tedious as-is. I need something to make uploading easier.

Thanks! :)

I was just as shocked as Frances, and now Rufus literally stalks him, showing up at his doorstep, ringing the bell. He's a little scary.

[identity profile] aledstrange.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been using semagic for a while now, tho never used any other, as that one works perfect for me, so can't really compare. It allows you to write the whole post with the images and pretty much does the uploading job by itself. You only have to specify the folder on you scrapbook. Of course it can be use to upload images only as well.

Hope it helps, and that you find solution to the problem soon. :)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard someone mention that before. Was it you? How do you write the post with pictures? Do you just add the filename as a placeholder?

Thank you. I hope so too.

[identity profile] aledstrange.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
lol maybe it was. I know I did mention it on my journal the first time I used it. I was sooo happy XD

Here are the clients lj recommends for posting
http://www.livejournal.com/download/
tho now I have the doubt if you use windows or not, but if so
http://www.livejournal.com/download/?platform=Windows

Anyways, I like semagic because its almost like using word directly to write, and you can simply drag the pictures from your hard drive into the post (you don't even need to upload first to have the right url). Once you "post", the program automatically uploads the images, changes the url and creates the new entry on your journal. Plus because is a word like program you can save your progress at any point, check spelling, and preview the entry before posting. Also has all LJ features for locked post, comments, mood, music, etc.

The only 'bad' thing is that you only 'see' code while using the program, you don't have to write, tho, but the entry only shows with italics and images and such on the preview, not on the program windows itself. Not sure how to explain it better lol but in short words, it makes the whole process of posting a lot easier! :)

[identity profile] naughtydolphin.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
oo I've never tried doing it with semagic. I always write mine up in notepad first. I might have to try it this way!

[identity profile] aledstrange.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally recommend it. :)

I was getting really tired between writing, and uploading, and posting, and checking for the image's url in PB. Plus I personally like word better than a wordpad (its easier and has good spellcheck! lol), but also meant I had double work to avoid all the extra coding the program adds to the text, so literally it took me hours to make even the smaller post O_o

Semagic does all that in one click. Its like magic for sure!! XD

[identity profile] showercapfrog.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I use Fotofox, which is a plugin for Firefox. Oh, damn, I just realised that it doesn't seem to have capabilities to run with Photobucket. Damn.

Ripp is wrong on so many levels...

And Frances! That seems so unlike him, somehow!

[identity profile] lithium-lily.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm, looks like Ripp would like to decorate his kitchen with that girl's butt instead *ahem* xD

[identity profile] javabean-dreams.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It would look wonderful sitting on his counter. xD

[identity profile] akatonbo.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Semagic will actually upload your pics in nice batches, but it took me a while to figure out where it is hidden in the program. It's better than any other method I've tried (including the actual WinXP widget, which has always sucked a lot for me, it fails out allthedamntime).

[identity profile] ikichi.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's what happens when you're awesomely awesome all the damn time! ^__~

[identity profile] hannahspring.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, Rufus Wainwright kissing Frances! :D *sings: you said watch my head about it, my head about it, oh no, oh no, oh no, no kidding...*
