Get out there and vote!

I'm involved in the Round Robin Legacy, which is the brainchild of [livejournal.com profile] laridian. We're currently on generation 3, and the most recent update, Generation 3: Interview with the Vampire of the Damned, was just recently posted by [livejournal.com profile] music_simbol. Previous posts were by [livejournal.com profile] madame_ugly and [livejournal.com profile] laridian, and are listed on the main page (link above).

There's a heir poll for the next round and it's still open, so feel free to weigh in. As it is with any voting process, it's my job to just bring you to the polls, not to influence your vote. I'll do that next round, when I'm the one who'll be saddled with the heir... then the campaigning will start. *snicker* I'd like to mention that Claudia and Armand have the most alien genetics, though, so choose wisely. (Read: I want those alien genetics.)

All this polling has gotten me into a poll-making mood. I've never made a livejournal poll before, so I've decided to try one.

Chapter 28 will feature updates on all the college kids, covering the same period of time, but I'm going to do them by individual (or group). I've decided that I'm going to let you decide the order of these parts.

[Poll #1269683]

There'll also be a section with Vidcund traveling to Veronaville, but I'm going to leave that one for the very end, I think, so it's not an option. This is going to be a long chapter, but since it all takes place in the same period of time, it makes more sense that way. Each will show events from that final year of college, but from different points of view (with some overlap).

If only the federal election were this much fun. My options are limited to an evil robot (Harper), a flakey nerd (Dion), or throwing my vote away (everything else). *sigh* Fun times. Looks like I'll be voting defensively yet again, since nobody really wants to be ruled over by an evil robot.

In other news, I have exceeded my bandwidth for this month with Photobucket. While this is sort of exciting (and no doubt the result of my [livejournal.com profile] simtorytellers interview and that awesome Tank/Frances secret at [livejournal.com profile] simsecret), I feel lost without my banner there. Since it's just one day, I'm going to hold out, but if it happens next month, I'm going to consider an upgrade.

ETA: I obviously fail at making polls, since you shouldn't be able to pick more than one answer, but oh well... you can pick more than one if you like. The results should still make sense.

Hmmm. Very interesting, because I would not have started with Tank if left to my own devices, but it might be interesting that way. Depending on how this turns out, I may have to re-work some minor things, but it'll be fun.

It's at least partially because I'm on a Tank kick in my story. He's a character that I hated when I first started playing the Grunt family, but the little bastard grew on me and became something of a tragic hero in my mind.

Reading Strangetown has compounded that feeling for me. There's so much more to him than just Ripp's bully of an elder brother. He's got such a sadness about him.

Tank is in your story too? I didn't know that.

I feel the same way about Tank. I love how conflicted he is about a lot of things, and he's essentially a good guy at heart, but he has all those issues to deal with. He's sad, like all the Grunts are underneath it all, and he's lonely too. Even when he's with other people, I get the feeling that Tank feels very alone.

He just came in a few chapters ago. Buzz has been there a while. I'm planning on using the Grunts more now that I'm getting away from the supernatural and back to the alien plotline.

Oh, cool. I know I say it all the time, but I really need to catch up on your story. I've only read the first couple of chapters so far.

Urgh, this just... really makes me wish there was some sort of group hug interaction.

I really would love to see the college kids teaming up sometime. Tank, Frances, Jill, Buck, Johnny, Ripp and Phi. And there should be Johnny and Tank working together and gaining some sort of respect for one another. Also, Ripp keeps initiating group hugs and high fives and make-outs with Phi. And Buck goes to designing group t-shirts and Frances helps with the process, while Jill just shakes her head and smiles. I NEED THESE THINGS.

Oh, but would Tank ever involve himself in a group hug? I doubt it...

I love your version of things. It's so much fluffier than mine. :D Like the group tee shirts... that would be too cute.

[identity profile] leskuh.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Of COURSE Tank would be involved in a group hug. Ripp and Buck would make it a requirement. Everyone would be hugging, and Tank would kind of be standing to the side awkwardly and Ripp would be like: "WHAT ARE YOU DOING GET IN HERE YOU BIG ASSHOLE <3!!!" and Buck would be all: "Yeah, Tank, you're part of the team too!" And Tank would grumble, but join them and maybe he'd feel like maybe he did belong to something just a little.

Because Tank is both repelled and drawn to Ripp's little group. Plus Buck is there too and Frances, so there's more connection.

I love your version of things too! Like, I know things aren't really like that and probably my silly little scenarios are unlikely/impossible, but my favorite scenes are the happy ones. And I like it when separate groups get united at one point or another. And then you get strange pair ups happening and when everything ends and everyone separates again, there's still that connection.

Cute. I think about the future when the boys might have families, and how they'll interact when they all get together. :)

Tank does want in with that group on some level, while another side of him would rather shoot Johnny than look at him. I think a lot of it is jealousy about Ripp, really. As much as Tank doesn't want to deal with Ripp most of the time, he hates the idea that someone else has filled that role. Someone who's Better Than Him In Every Way.

Yeah, it's interesting to think about how characters that don't normally cross paths would interact. I get to do that a little in the upcoming Frances chapter.
