Autonomous Casual Romance

I just installed ACR.

That is all. ;)

Ophelia: Wanna make out?

Johnny: YES!!!

Random college student: Get a room!

Ripp: *is generally okay with this*

Many, MANY makeouts later... (easily more than 10)

Ripp: *is still generally cool with this*

Not a care in the world...

So, ummm.... jealousy? What jealousy?

(I didn't adjust a thing, by the way.)

Johnny isn't jealous either. He's a 2/4 on the jealousy scale, so he won't kick Ripp's ass unless Phi has a wedding ring on her finger. Phi is 3/4 on the jealousy scale (requires some form of commitment to get jealous, but that wouldn't really apply anyway), and Ripp is... you guessed it... 0/4. He really doesn't give a shit.

Nobody has made any move to woohoo anyone yet and I've played through about a day with them. I wonder when that kicks in?

Anyway, I'm liking this so far. You can adjust things to your liking, so it's pretty easy to control. I've finally jumped on the bandwagon. Go me!

Now, I'm off to play with Pleasantview a little... I'm working it up in the "background" for my story. ACR should be a fun time there.

Ooh, I've been waiting for someone to be a real guinea pig for this.

I'm interested in the nitty gritty. Installation and set up? Pain in the ass? I was a bit intimidated with what appeared to be a "you have to set everyone and the hood and. . .blahblahblah".

But are you using your "real" characters or just clones? Did you get your whole game working or are you still running only base and AL (I think I missed something somewhere).

Well, judging by the comments, everyone else uses it already. Come join us, Madame... Give in to the peeeeer pressure. *offers toke of ACR*

I didn't even have to install it at all. It was automatic. I dropped it in the downloads folder, and then it set itself up when I entered the game. If the tokens don't install, you can just spawn the adjuster and "add token to neighourhood" or something like that. It's easy.

If you want some special setting for a sim (and the menu is easy to understand and comes with instructions), you have to do that individually, but the game decides on settings, based on the sim's personalities anyway, and they seem pretty fitting.

Those are the real sims. I'm just going to go for it. I'm living dangerously.

I have all the EP/SPs added back in now, and so far, so good...

Not everyone =P I'm still here on the outside looking in & not yet daring. Generation 5 are far too interested in each other's partners for me to dare install ACR. "Oi! Alter is this way. Stop heart farting my cousin & marry me like you supposedly want to."

I love that Ripp really doesn't give a shit. That's just perfect for him isnt it. XD

*puts arm over dragancaor's shoulders and sticks tongue out at everyone else*

It's nice to know I'm not alone. (and your worries are mine, I have so much inappropriate heart farting and random bolts, I'll have to rename Peculiar The Sex Cauldron)

You can make adjustments to prevent that sort of thing. I don't think it would become too much of a problem if you set it up the right way.

Now, I say that, but I need to do more playing around with it to be sure.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure you can make adjustments to prevent that. You could turn the offending sim's autonomy to 0, or even set them to always reject advances that aren't their spouse. It's pretty flexible.

I agree. Romance sims should generally be less concerned about fidelity. It's so hypocritical. I approve of how this breaks the love-woohoo link from the original programming. That always bothered me a little.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
*channeling Nancy Reagan* "NO!"

Well, not yet at least. I have a new computer in the works (I saw it the other day and it's sweet). Perhaps once I get that beast going, I'll add in BV and ACR. Maybe.

Right now, I'm happy with just having the censor blur removed. Baby steps. . .baby steps.

Oh, but it's fun... don't knock it 'til you try it...

I think you'll come around. The brothel setting would be awesome for your whore house. I used it on Don Lothario's lot and it was like a porno set.

I've been thinking about removing the censor blur too. I like it for comedy effect from time to time, but I like how you can get better (and dirtier) pics without it.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
*snicker* Porno. That might make The Club more interesting.

The lack of blur is nice for taking bathtime pics, too. It's like they use way too many pixels to blur out a damn toddler. (I did get it for "dirty" pics, though--can't have pixelated bewbies)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not joking about the porno thing. If the mod somehow allowed more than two sims to do it at the same time, Don would have been doing the maid and some random AL gearhead (that he barely knew) at the same time. They were lining up to get a piece.

Very amusing.

I agree. The blur is really annoying in some shots. It'll be much better to just cover the naughty bits (or lack thereof) with strategically placed objects and limbs.

Umm, hello? Wasn't I a guinea pig with your Aggie staining all of the beds in the asylum's sheets? *snicker*

I didn't get into the nitty gritty though- I'll leave it up to Strange to do that. I agree- JOIN US!!!

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but your asylum made me 0_o. I don't want my sims acting like THAT! *snicker*

I mean, good god, what if someone like Glam or Kitty all the sudden turned into a super slut. I couldn't handle it.

I'm not ready for it yet. Maybe later.
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
To get that reaction, I think you have to set it on an exaggerated setting, with really high autonomy. You can turn it off for specific sims too.

If a sim is married, they'll generally stick to their spouse anyway, unless they meet someone they're massively attracted to.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
". . .unless they meet someone they're massively attracted to."

THAT is the problem. Someone like mild mannered Kitty Curious is actually burning with lust for. . .Loki Beaker. If it was any other neighborhood, I might do it just for shits and giggles, but no, it just can't happen.
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, but that would be so funny. *snicker* (I totally understand why you wouldn't want that, don't worry.)

Again, I think you can set it so that would never happen. Once sims are settled in a relationship, you can turn their autonomy off. It can be used selectively.

Loki Beaker. *snicker* What a scandal...

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
At least Kitty is past the oopsie baby stage. Now THAT would be a scandal.

I wonder how ACR would work if you tricked the game into having a three way marriage? Would it recognize it?
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it sure would be. *snicker*

Maybe I'll test the three-way marriage thing with ACR. I have a test family for that already, when I was seeing if InSim would allow me to set it up.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
*total hijack*

So setting it up with inSim you just give everyone the marriage "token" and that's that? Do they get wedding rings?
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about the hijack. This is relevant to the ACR discussion anyway.

Yeah, you set them as "married" via InSim and they have that token in their relationship profile. All three have wedding rings, but only the most recently married shows up in the family tree (if that makes sense) - can't have two spouses in the family tree, so only the last one counts.

Likewise, you only get the memory for marrying once, and if you do it in-game instead of with InSim. This could be useful for filling specific wants, or avoiding the bad memory for a romance sim. Marry the one that want to marry the most in the usual game way and then add the third with InSim.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. Sounds easy.

And good tips for getting the most out of it too (avoiding fears or getting the most wants). Albert's new LTW is "golden anniversary" so I'm kind of tempted to get him married to one or the other. But then again. . .they don't NEED to be married. Eh, it's nice to have as an option.

[identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com 2008-09-06 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, when I first tested out I wanted to see what the worst case scenerio would be like so I put it on the very high autonomy setting. Besides, all the members of the asylum had the hots for eachother so it was a total slutfest.
