Looking for extracted sims from Maxis family trees

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a download of some of the Maxis characters from the family trees, specifically the anscestors of the Caliente family? It is possible to extract these, right? I know I can't ressurect them, and they're blacked out in SimPE, so that makes me wary of trying to extract them.

I could recreate the sim in question, but I'd love to see the actual character in-game.

I don't know if it's possible to extract those sims, but I found a site where you can download all the ancestors of the Pleasantview characters:

http://genensims.com/guest/MadameMim/neighbourhoodsPV.htm

And here you can get the sims of Pleasantview as they were back in the Sims 1 (young Johnny Burb, Jennifer and Daniel Pleasant as kids, etc.):

There is a download that allows you to resurrect long-dead sims like that, I believe...

Oh yeah! Christianlov's Elixir of Resurrection. I seem to recall bringing back the long-dead with that. And the word is that it still works, although you're probably not gonna want to resurrect pets with it.

It should be in the Graveyard, but I'm having trouble getting to it right now for some reason.

Only those sims that are represented in game with gravestones are fully developed.

The sims in the family trees don't have character files, DNA or proper memories. They aren't extractable with SimPE or resurrectable through game mechanics. If you were able to ressurect them they would be completely borked due to the missing information and files.

Yeah, I've heard that the graveyard site is down for some reason.

Thanks for the suggestion.

That's how I understand it too. I wouldn't want to mess around with resurrecting them in-game.

All I really need is the facial structure for BodyShop, so I'm hoping that there is some way to access that. I know that people have extract the "real" Bella, so I hope that someone has done the same for them.

Thank you. :) That's very helpful.

I wonder how this creator was able to extract them.

I have cloned Sims from family trees before using SimPE and then recreated them in CAS with their original personality points. They're not the same sims, you understand, but basically different people who look just like the old ones.

Specifically, I've extracted Skip Broke and Bella Goth from Pleasantview. I'm sure it would work for the Caliente sisters' relatives too.

Graveyard is down, because the loser who keeps hacking WNF is...well hacking WNF again. >.>

How did you clone them? They don't show up in sim surgery for me.

Why, oh why? Someone has some serious problems.

[identity profile] simplode.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. Deceased sims show up in mine, all sims in alpha order by first name. I'm not in game at the moment -- do you have a list of names I can look for?

ETA: Never mind, I looked in the game and found them and Lo! and Behold! they are not in my Sim Surgery either. Which is wacky, because there are in fact some others (such as at least one Crumplebottom and a couple Goths) who do appear. Maybe these are the ones that are ghosts? Although I've never seen either Skip Broke or Bella Goth haunt Pleasantview. Hmm....I'm stumped. Sorry!

ETA More: Well! Further purusal of the Sim Browser shows that the Caliente ancestors have no character data and are unlinked. I am forced to the conclusion that, for whatever reason, some ancestral characters are only placeholders in family trees without the actual character data that would allow them to be properly cloned. I'm not sure how Maxis chose which would have character data and which wouldn't, but there you have it.

So if these folks show up in [livejournal.com profile] simgaroop's list of sims available above, I haven't the foggiest notion how they did it.

Do you know how to bring back sims that were deleted in the simbin back? I deleted the capps extended family and the monty's extened family. *sigh* ive been wanting to play them for a while now.

That's how it is for me too. I can access their profiles in the sim browser, even though they're blacked out, but not in sim surgery.

I tried to get the sim I wanted from simgaroop's link, but it wasn't working for me. In the end, I recreated those sims using their descendants and the pacifier in CAS. They'll serve the purpose, and maybe even better, since they'll actually resemble the families they relate to. They're MY sims now too, which is cool.

No, I wish I could help you, but I really don't know how to do that, or if it's even possible.

I could package them and post them for you, if you're interested. You wouldn't have their memories, but you could recreate most of the relationships with InSIM (and, where that fails, SimPE).

You can get all of the Sims from TS1 at Sim Estates 2. Violet Kitty recreated all of the original Sims and many of the original houses for TS2. So that will provide ancestors for Pleasantview families like the Brokes and Pleasants.

I did locate a Nighat Caliente Sim (the mother of Dina and Nina, I think) on the Exchange. After my neighborhoods recently became corrupted, I decided to "roll back" my Pleasantview. So I did a bunch of searching for ancestors to Sims like Don Lothario and the Calientes. The Nighat Sim was the only one that I found.

Oh, thanks for pointing that out. It's very cool that they recreated those. I'll have to check it out.

I've decided to just create my own versions for my story, based on the genetics of their descendants. That's what I did for Lyla Grunt, and it makes so much more sense genetically. The sims in the family tree thumbnails always seem to have unaltered face template faces, so I have no problem with making up my own versions.

I've got a project on my journal where I'm starting from the very beginnings of the family trees of all the pre-made Sims in the game in a huge, interconnected neighborhood. I searched long and hard for how to resurrect those tricky ancestors and finally settled for making them myself. I recreated them as accurately as I could to the thumbnails and fixed any extremely odd deformities, though still keeping the character of the more unusual faces. At the time I didn't know the Pleasantview ancestors were available for download, but that doesn't do me that much good anyway, as I still have 6 more neighborhoods to work with.
