Photos of the short and choppy hair

I acquired that new short and choppy Maxis hair, and since [profile] pixel_and_bean  requested that I share some better photos of the style, I did a little photoshoot with Jaxy.

(I'd like to suggest DYtD as the background music here. Check them out - they're a great band, and I use them as one of my sources of inspiration for Jaxy and Llama Dance Party.)

Who better to model this style than Jaxy Rai, who I would consider the poster girl for such a style. Not to say that a straight girl wouldn't wear her hair like this, but it seems more typical of a lesbian or maybe a hairstylist. Or perhaps a girl who has a hairstylist for a girlfriend. It's also a very suitable style for a rocker like Jax, don't you think?

Now, for some more descriptive shots...

(Oops! You can see my workspace back there. That's like letting the boom mic fall into the shot during a film shoot. :P)

Yeah, I like it. I like it a lot.

I gave her a nose piercing, and it seems to suit her. I'd imagine she might have a tongue stud too, if only sims had tongues. *snicker* But they don't.

Oh, and the shirt is a tank by fanseelamb and the pants are by migamoo.

Now, as a bonus question...

Jaxy and Zoe were getting a little cozy, as they often do (triple bolters, don't you know), and this happened:

That's a memory for "kissed Jasmine for the first time", which left me a little confused. That was not the first time they kissed. Not by a long shot.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? What could be causing it, I wonder?

I meant to say so below... you're very welcome.

It's pretty gap free, and with 50% less cranium than those other meshes. *snicker* Yeah, I'm still WTFing over that. I can't get over it.

Yeah, it's from the peasantry section. Start from the end of the thread and work back, because they posted fixed versions of the objects and even a new curly hair mesh that doesn't suck as hard (in fact, it's quite nice).

I just dumped them all into one folder (so I could easily keep track of them together) under downloads. Doesn't matter what you name it - just ignore the scary technical talk. I just called the folder "Sims 2 Shop" or something like that. It works fine.

Indeed, reinstallation = everything's new and unexpected to the Sims. ;) Don Lothario becomes a virgin etc etc.

[identity profile] saunasims.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh! I haaaaated how that hair looked in Bodyshop, but your shots makes it look good! Very very nice. :D My own favorite hair is that piled on one that comes in plain and with a tiny tiara and fringe. The former is just perfect for ye generic 50s/60s housewife look, I think. The other one I like is the french twist, it's actually outright pretty! And both have a nice sheen, unusual for Maxis.

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
So where do you get this kind of stuff? The Maxis store? Huh. I've been on there and all I've ever seen for d/l are actual games, like full games that take HOURS to download on my laptop and DAYS to download on my (dial-up) PC! I've never seen just hair or clothes. Is it in the Exchange, like the run-with-scissors package?

I'm currently d/l the IKEA Stuff Pack that I found on there. I had a ZOMG moment when I saw Apartment Life on there, but then I realized it was pre-order. :P

I must give EAxis all of my money. Must. *writes blank check to EAxis*

So, that means that Ripp is a virgin again too? Mr. Woohooed With 20+ Sims? That's a riot. I'll bet he's pretty pumped to do it all again for the first time.

Even funnier is poor Johnny. He only JUST got rid of that virginity, and now he's back where he started? :P He's definitely not amused at that.

*sings* Like a virgin... touch for the very first time...

I really like that hairstyle on Jaxy. I'm not a huge fan of the Princess Leia cinnamon buns. I think it really suits her.

Nice, huh? *wiggles eyebrows*

Yes, yes, and yes to your questions. You'll want to go to MATY and check the peasantry section. They've even fixed some of the problems with the hairs (like the freakin' HUGE forehead on some of the meshes) and objects (making the one-tile objects occupy only one tile instead of two).

I have tonnes of space in my downloads now. Woohoo! Too bad I had to do it the hard way.

Okay, that's cool. The game won't implode, so that's good enough for me. I'm going to have weird double memories, though. That should be interesting.

That one is really nice, though I don't care for the streaks. I've never been a fan of those.

I like the curly mesh too (once it was fixed by HP), and there is a really nice french twist style (that's how I wore my hair when I graduated from high school) and a classic chignon (which is how I plan to wear my hair for my wedding - I could sim my wedding now *snicker*).

I really approve of the inclusion of those classic styles. *thumbs up* I wish they'd do more of that instead of going for trendy things (with clothing especially), and they've been doing a good job of it lately. They blow it a little by pairing the nice argyle sweater with distressed denim (didn't that trend die ages ago?), but sometimes they go more classic and get it right. Free Time had some great stuff like that, and so did Kitchen and Bath.

I LOVE the french twist too, and the chignon. Those are some of my own favourite formal hairstyles, which I use on special ocassions. I don't usually go for sheen, but it's nice in a formal 'do.

[identity profile] abbycat900.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
If I'm thinking of the same steaks that you are, I'm not a big fan of them either, but I think some of these hairs are some of the nicer ones that isn't custom content (in my opinion. Wait. I'm a little redundant, sorry xD).

Is the curly one you're talking about the one with the strange part in the hair? (And I think I could probably sim my wedding too- bedhead and sweat pants xD Unless I fall in love with someone who would prefer a big wedding, I don't want any guests. I am strange.)

I love the stuff that came with Free Time, and I still want Kitchen and Bath, but my computer really doesn't like my game as it is, even without me adding any more stuff into.

It's the new Sims 2 Store: http://thesims2store.ea.com/index.html

You can purchase the items individually, and some fixed, SecuRom-free versions are being shared at MATY too. I'm not interested in getting SuckRom on my computer after my recent issues, so I really wish they wouldn't include that with it. I'm just paranoid about it now.

I bought the Ikea SP the other day, but I'm probably going to wait for a SimPE update. I'm not dying to have anything on it, like with Kitchen and Bath, but I do like the stuff. I can wait.

Yeah, they've had more than enough of my money already too. When you add it all up, this is a very expensive game, but not more expensive than those online games, where you pay for time spent online.

I'm not letting them force SuckROm on my computer again, though. I fell for it with the Spore Creature Creator trial, and once bitten, twice shy. They've turned me off from ever using this store, unless they change their approach.

Yeah, the cinnamon buns work better on a little girl, but initially, I couldn't think of anything better for her. Right now, she wears a male to female conversion of the fauxhawk hair. That works pretty well for her, but I like this new short and choppy style a lot better.

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I just stuck them in Downloads. They work. *shrug*

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspect that's one reason why Zoe wears her skirts short. ;)

That choppy uni mesh is horrid. Though I've used it on occasion, it gives me fits when I do. And the gelled spikes are only good for humor value. :p

I might be paranoid, but I have a feeling that the real purpose of Securom is not to prevent piracy, but something more insidious and sneaky. I'm just not sure what story, if any, to believe.

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It was pretty silly looking. But kind of a cute idea, and not gross or pervy. I did a quick search of MTS2 and the sims2wiki and didn't find it, but if I run across it later I'll post a link. ^_^

I've always been pretty plain vanilla about hair colouring that way, and many other details of styling. I don't mind those things if they're in moderation, but they can get really overcomplicated and busy. I don't really like embellishment. I'm not much of a fan of "designer" facial hair either. My favourite is just a full beard of the scruff variety. Not too long and unruly, but a beard all the same.

Yeah, it's the mesh with the strange part and the HUGE cranium and forehead (there are a few of those, actually). That mesh had really messed up proportions. Nobody has just as much or more head above their eyebrows as below. Never. That mesh was fixed by HP in the MATY thread - you should check t out. It's nice when the head is scaled down.

My wedding, which is a month away (EEEEP!), is going to be a somewhat nontraditional affair surrounded by a coating of big tradition family wedding. My family does love a party, so I'm sure it will be an epic night (for better or worse - there may be fights and body parts shared with the general public *sigh*). The nontraditional stuff is how I have male attendants and my SO has female ones *gasp* (we each have one of the same sex, and three of the opposite), which is not common around here at all, even though the rest of the world would probably just yawn at that. We're also combining our surnames into a brand new name (not hyphenated). That's been talked about a lot, but reactions are mostly positive so far. My grandmother thought we were super cool. :D She's great.

At this point, your no-guests plan sounds great to me too. It's a lot of fuss to plan a wedding, and we're not really "those types" of people that get really into it. We realize that we should have just eloped, but it's far, far too late for that now. :P

I'd love to see it. Did it animate? It would be fun to see bratty sim kids sticking out their tongues.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, me too. It worked fine. I used a separate folder for them, just to make them easy to find.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Zoe and Jaxy like the easy access, and why not? ;)

I think I used that choppy one only once, on Brandi Broke, but then switch to HP's Kara hair (the one that I now use on Jayne Doe). I really do tend to favour short hairstyles on my female sims, so I'm always looking for nice cc styles to use. I like some longer stuff here and there, for certain characters, but those ultra long and girly hairs usually don't appeal to me, especially if they happen to come with bows and things. *shudders*

Yeah, I feel really paranoid, but there might be something to that. I read somewhere that a newer version includes something that only allows you to install your game three times and then you have to buy a new copy. I really hope that not true.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's a makeup of sorts. More like just an amplification of her current look, but that's still a makeover, right?

Oh, did they get them to remove the "hidden objects"? I'm sure there will be a way around it. It's pretty hard to stop this sort of thing.

I think it was the reinstall. Some people have said that it resets certain things like that, even with old backups. How odd.

Yeah, maybe Jaxy and Zoe are just role playing, or something. ;)

[identity profile] vega-pleiades.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)

Yes, and there is a lot of truth in that. I know that I did my share of it, and I was there to witness plenty of other such things. :P

It was very insightful of them to include that detail, really.

Congrats on getting married! I hope you have a great wedding night. The new last name idea sounds awesome. Last names tend to get on my nerves (my mother insists I should have her last name, my father insists I should keep his, but once I'm legally old enough I am dropping my last name all together in favor of just being Liberty Bliss), but I think that sounds like a very creative idea (Again, I might be a little redundant.... Redundancy is one of my 'charms' xD).

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2008-07-02 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll have to let you know how the Ikea Stuff goes... it's downloaded and installed and I just need to get in and play with it. :D

I'm being brave and doing the EA store thing. I don't like that it's putting on this thing called "Sims 2 Store" though. *worries* It's doing that right now. Taking a while too so it must be a pretty large file. I'm not sure what's up with that. I thought it would be just like regular d/l that you unzip and put in your folder.

They had some awesome looking longer female hair there though, which sucked me in. I'm such a sucker for longer female sim hair. Here's to hoping I don't regret it, lol!
