Strangetown extras: Johnny, Ripp and Ophelia artwork - take 2

I have another drawing to share. My significant other completed his second, "new and improved" attempt at a drawing of Johnny, Ripp, and Ophelia, so here it is. I'm definitely going to make this into a painting recolour for the game at some point.

Pretty cool, don't you think? The colours are great, and I'm really liking what he did with the body shapes. He also intuitively knew that Johnny should be the butt of the joke. Why not laugh at the green guy, right?

*snicker* Ripp's hair got censored. Now how did that happen? (At least I amuse myself, right?)

ROFL!

Sadly, I know just how Johnny feels. Been there, done that. It was a seagull. Nasty, nasty thing. I had to go home and wash my hair :P

It's a great picture, even with Ripps hair being censored.

Ugh, picture- NOT link! I hate not being able to edit my comments.

Oh shit! (pun intended!) that's hilarious! :D

I got a poop in my shoulder, just like Johnny. But your poor brother got it WAY worse! Yuck! ^^

Yeah, it wasn't even ON his ear, it was a bullseye, right inside

After I left that post I called my brother to remind him of it and he said (and I quote) "*$#^ you, I still think you trained that bird"

Oh man, 6 years later and it's still making me laugh til I can't breathe

I LOVE Ophelia's pinky, lol! I don't know why, but that part just endears me to the whole thing. I love little details like that.

Before I had kids I had a pet cockatiel who I loved (sadly he was killed by my neighbor's dog) and just about every morning before work he would fly to me and ride around on my shoulder. I can't tell you how many days I went to work with bird doody on my blazer, lol!

Good times...

And what is it with all the seagulls? Does everyone live near the ocean or what? *is jealous*

We get confused seagulls out here though... they seem to think huge parking lots are water or something.

It looks a little bit like Ophelia's hair in this drawing. :P

That looks like someone must have made it for some Dr. Seuss character. It looks like Who hair. (That sweater really coordinates well with it too.)

This is what happens when Ripp gets into Johnny's hair putty. I can just see him giggling through the whole thing, and then he ends up with some sort of Medusa hair, except with dicks instead of snakes.

You're probably right - I'll know it when I see it. The big Jackson Pollack tribute comes to mind too (the black and white paint splatters). That one's about the right size too.

That would be cool. You could have one corner of an art gallery devoted to his work. :D

It's actually good luck to get some on you, isn't it? Well, maybe that's just something people say to make you feel better. *snicker*

Surprisingly, I don't think I've ever had this happen to me (which is quite a feat with so many seagulls around). I've been present to witness it happening to others, though, which is a lot more fun. *snicker*

I think he captured the personalities very well with this. It's so much fun.

Yeah, those two better watch out. :P Once Johnny gets over the embarrassment, he's going to be pissed that they're laughing at him.

Censor bars always amuse me, and holding out on this mediocre secret has become a joke in itself.

I'll look into making some paintings today, I think. Maybe just a couple of them to start, with the painting creation feature in SimPE. I need to figure out how to really recolour objects, so I can use other painting meshes. So far, I haven't been able to locate the right tutorial.

Wow. Right in the ear? That sounds like a real nightmare. He must have had a hell of a time cleaning it out. Ewww...

I don't blame you for laughing, though. :P

He'll be very happy to hear that. I love all the little details of his own style that he's put in there, but it still seems set in their world. This gets me thinking that there should be telephone poles in the game, though. Strangetown really should have a little depressing row of telephone poles right down the main road, shouldn't it?

Yeah, me too. I think he really nailed the right look for Ophelia. I love the curves. All the body shapes are great, and I get a real kick out of Johnny's calf muscle definition. He has chicken legs. :D

[identity profile] franwi.livejournal.com 2008-06-17 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
But that's his only shirt! I guess Johnny had to walk around half-naked for the rest of the day. Or maybe he borrowed Ripp's, and Ripp walked around half-naked.

I love his art style, really makes me wish there was a Strangetown comic book. Also love the coloring. And the way the car is shaped. It's a fun piece.

Someone on MATY said it's the hair of a French comic strip character. I don't remember the name. It's also kind of a crappy mesh, one of those that gap when the sim moves. :p

It does look like Phi's hair in the drawing! :D

Were they talking about Tintin? That looks something like his hair. (I LOVE Tintin. ^_^)

I live on an island, so that's where my seagulls come from (makes sense, right?). Well, it's a very big island, but we mostly tend to live on the coast. My current residence is only a five minute walk from a huge beach. In my experience, the modern seagull tends to flock to the McDonald's parking lot, rather than the beach, though. Sad, but true.

You must live further inland, do you? That would be hard for me, I think. I'm so connected to the ocean. I feel weird when I'm away from it for long. Most places I've traveled to in my life have been islands too, I've noticed. It must be a thing that comes with the island mentality.

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-06-17 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Tintin, too. But no, it was a little boy character, in a very different style. Now I'm going to have to look it up...

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2008-06-17 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I am *very* landlocked, lol. Central Ohio. In fact I've never seen the ocean, ever. When I was younger, it was because my mother suffered extreme motion sickness (she still does) and we couldn't travel. Once I moved out and got married, hubby and I had no money to go anywhere. Now we have money, but we have no time. It's a vicious cycle. :P

I have seen the water meet the sky standing on the shores of Lake Erie... but it's not the same.

I would love to see the ocean and the coast. My hubby, though... he has NO desire. I think seeing that vast expanse of water would cause him anxiety (he's terrified of drowning and of water in general. He doesn't even like baths, only showers.) I guess he's too much of a farmer and needs to be earth bound.

Funny... *I'm* the Earth sign (Taurus) and *he's* the Water sign (Pisces). That's one for the Universe to try and figure out. ;)

ROFL! You tease!! :P
Now I'm imagining Ripp with every single hair style I can think of!!! ROFL

Your SO is very talented indeed :)
That's a very unique style. So cool!. :D

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-06-17 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Very nice. Ophelia looks a lot less severe in this one.

But I feel bad for the bird that dropped that load. Is the poo STEAMING? Damn, that had to burn coming out.

It's funny that so many people thought that it was penis-related. He'd really be a dickhead then, wouldn't he? *snicker*

Johnny must use an intense volumizing conditioner.

Thanks for the good vibes. I've been messing around with it a little already, seeing which templates have the best proportions to match it.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-06-17 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I thought it would be lame to just give it away in this drawing, when I had plans to include it in the story... but I wanted to show off the drawing right away too. I had to compromise.

I really like the colours too. It's a great palette. That hand is so odd, huh? It's like a proper little extended finger, as if she's drinking tea with the Queen. Johnny's feet are almost big enough to be flippers. Ripp's are getting close too. I love seeing them all exaggerated and cartoony like that.

I'm going to make them on basegame and nightlife meshes, for sure. I may do others, if the mesh is really good, but I'd like to include options that everyone can use. The rest would be a bonus.

I'd love to see some of your work made into in-game paintings too. Would you be okay with me doing that? I'm thinking about your recent one with Tank and Johnny and the one with the three of them in bed, since those were the most finished (though I do love all the sketches too). What do you think?

Okay... I thought it was a bit too tall and zany to be Tintin, but it is a sort of similar. Now I'm really curious about where it came from.

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-06-17 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, I found the thread again: More Awful Than You: Hair

The character's name is Titeuf. Here's the official website. I don't speak French, do you? I'm a little curious to know more about it.
