Barefoot, pregnant, and at the mercy of InSIM: testing genetics

Recently, I tried fiddling with the recessive genetics in Strangetown, using SimPE, since [personal profile] madame_ugly was nice enough to explain it all to me a while back. The return of InSIM made it easy to test them out, so that's just what I did, using my favourite approach - the HANDS ON method.

Yes? Is there something you all wanted to tell me?

That's right, my friends. You got knocked up via InSIM, and you'll have no idea who the other parent is... oh, wait, yes you will. The green ones are Johnny's.

Ophelia: Okay, it's time to clean up these babies, guys! Get to work and start picking them up.

I love how the children of Ripp and Ophelia have such a wide range of skintones, instead of just ending up averaged out (that seems to always happen for me).

Even with all of those babies, I didn't get any kids from Johnny with red hair, so I'm not sure if I correctly changed his genetics. I'll have to test it out again. All of these kids had blond hair, so Ripp's recessive genetics are definitely working (I had some grey eyes too).

It's so nice to have InSIM back. I'm not sure if my sims agree, though.

I personally like to get those unexpected alien surprises, and still even if they are supposed to be dominant, as recessive genes they only show up in counted occasions. It very rare I have green children with Jill and almost never alien eyes with Johnny, at least in my experience anyways :)

funny! I did that on one game as well, but just for 'once' and started breeding the whole town, literally ... OMG! The combination I got that game was amazing, but still I decided that it wasn't what I wanted so much, many of the kids ended up looking so off it wasn't even funny, so I eventually when back to my only-barely-altered hood (i have a couple of main base hood I use to copy when starting a new town, they all have different genetics depending of what I want to do with them lol )

Its sad that so few sims actually have their right genetics as default, if I'm not mistaken i think the Grunts children are the only sims with the correct recessive dna on town.

I can see how it would be fun to get those genetics randomly, but I like to keep things logical for the way the dominant/recessive genes would actually work in the game. I wouldn't give someone brown hair and eyes are recessive either.

It is sad that the genetics aren't set up correctly to begin with. I wonder if they've done that in the more recently developed hoods, like Riverblossom Hills.
