Strangetown Extras: zombie tour guide

Did I mention how much I love the hack that unlocks the alien and zombie skin tones? Well, I do.

A zombie tour guide! These are the makings of a good horror movie. (And they thought that Big Foot was something to worry about.)

Johnny: Okay, this was not in my travel guide.

Ripp: *worries*

Ophelia: Hey look! A Canada goose.

I'll bet you didn't know that Three Lakes is in Canada. :P It definitely looks like it, anyway. It's one big Canadian log cabin cliché.

I sent Johnny, Ripp, and Ophelia to Three Lakes (that's one for each of them), just to play around with Bon Voyage. Depending on how things go in the next update (with the outcome of certain events), this just might happen in the story too.

I love that Canada Goose pic. REPRESENT

O Canada!

Finally - it's our time to shine. We didn't get hockey in Free Time (which is a shame), but now everyone gets to see Canada geese, whether they want to or not. We rule.

I didn't know you were Canadian! Cool.

I'm not, though. :)

Really? I thought my Canadian English would have given me away. You know, talking about my favourite colour to paint a theatre, and things like that.

Yeah, I'm from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, to be more specific. Canada is a big country (to state the obvious), so saying that you're from Canada is a pretty big generalization. I've only ever traveled as far west as Ontario from here, so I haven't even visited half of the country.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2008-05-10 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thats true. I actually went when I was younger, I went to Toronto, it was so beautiful, I loved it. The people however, were a little rude, but thats okay. :)

(And you could have been British if your favourite colour was something else, you know?)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-10 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Toronto is a great city. (And the rudeness seems to come with any big city, I think. It depends on where you go and who you talk to.)

Yeah, you're right. It's not completely the same, but it's very much like British English. Canadian English uses some British variations and some American. We're somewhere in between the two.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2008-05-10 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, you're telling me, I'm from New York, where our rudeness supposedly is king! ;)

[identity profile] cameoflage.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Y'know, that's the opposite of my travelling experience: I'm from BC, and I've been no further east than Ontario.

I love that hack, too.

I have a lot of zombie bosses (when they call in sick), a zombie matchmaker, and a random zombie townie who really enjoys visiting The Club. "WHOOOORES. . .I mean. . .BRAAAAINS."

I'm still waiting for a zombie food delivery person.

(oh and I fully expect to see some Bigfoot appreciation from you, it's your mission, should you choose to accept it, to make me want BV)

Zombies love whores. Didn't you know?

My zombie pizza delivery woman wasn't just a zombie. She was a zombie bride with alien eyes. That just about made my LIFE. That reminds me to have my sims order more pizza.

Oooh, a challenge. I just might take you up on that and MAKE you get Bon Voyage. I'm enjoying the vacation thing a lot so far. Sims look so cute in their little towels in the sauna. I've had a run in with the unsavoury charlatan too, and that was pretty funny.

There are some interesting things about Big Foot that I learned from the Prima guide (I love that little box set). Big Foot advances through careers very quickly, because he doesn't need the required friends, and he already has all of the skills. Dogs and children LOVE Big Foot, but cats HATE him (that sounds awesome). He gives you big scary hugs and loves to do the slap dance. Unfortunately, he cannot breed with normal sims. He cannot even engage in romantic interactions with them (BOOOO! hiss!).

I have a fun idea for Big Foot. I'm going to play the Kims and get him into their family. He's going to be their ticket to stardom again, once they put him in the show business career. They also have a child, dog AND a cat, so we'll get to see him in action all around.

With Ripp staring at Phi like that, I don't think that the Canadian goose is the only one she'll be experiencing...

*snicker* You're so good at coming up with lines like that. If we're going to follow the puns like that, let's just hope that she doesn't see a rooster next.

That is so awesome! And I love that you took them to Three Lakes! I agree... it is a lot like Canada! (not that I've been there, mind you (pouts cause I'd like to go) but from what I've heard. :P

I'm sure all of the Trio are afraid of meeting Bigfoot. :P But I'm with Madame Ugly. Make them dig and dig and dig until they unearth that map to the Hidden Burrow and send them off. Ripp was afraid to meet Bigfoot in my game once too... but then once he did and decided it wasn't so bad, he wanted to be friends. :D And the Bigfoot hug is so cute... and also when the Bigfoots (feets?) become Elders, they turn all silver... awwww...

I love Bigfoot! I had one living with a family once and he was sooo sweet. **Bigfoot love**

Well, it's sort of like a cartoon version of Canada. :P

Actually, Ophelia was the only one of the three that had a fear of meeting Bigfoot, but she got over it when they went to the lot. They couldn't bring him home, though, because they're still in college. I'll have to try it with another family.

I didn't know that they turned silver when they became elders. That is very sweet, and such a nice detail.

I flip flop about getting that hack. While it would create lots of hilarity, for certain stories, I'd have to make sure to avoid aliens and zombies, which could be annoying, and lord knows I'm lazy. :P

If this does get in the story, I assume you'll leave out the zombie, right?

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-10 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't be a good thing to have if you were trying to do a realistic story, I agree. The aliens blend right in with the Strangetown story, but I'm not sure what to think of the zombies. They're very funny, but they don't really have a place in the story, at least not yet. I just might work some zombies in there eventually (they're one of the few supernatural creatures that I'm interested in using in the story). But yeah, for now, I leave the zombies out of the story.

I'm still all manner of thrilled that just after Lilith died and was saved in my all-star asylum, the Chinese delivery place sent the zombie over. I think I broke something laughing.

Then there's the ten million zombie bartenders in all my 'hoods. I don't think I've seen a non-zombie at the bar in forever. And the same one seems to work all over downtown in my Farfallas 'hood....

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-10 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you had a zombie delivery service too? That's awesome. I have had cashiers and maids too.

[identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The zombie alien bride pizza service STILL wins! :P
I love when Sims randomly birdwatch. Especially when they spot things in their yard like TROPICAL BIRDS! One time Jill Smith walked by and was autonomously bird watching when I was playing the Grunt's house and she got stung chased by bees! That was the first time I saw that, it was hilarious.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-10 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The zombie alien bride pizza service is still my favourite. How can you top that?

You can see such a wide variety of birds in your sim's backyard, can't you? I haven't seen that thing with the bees yet, but I really want to.

[identity profile] simgarooop.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)

Yeah, that hack is adorable for random stuff like that :). I had a zombie paper-boy who I was SO going to add to the storyline, but sadly I lost him with the neighborhood. And I also like to have random alien NPC's around, like teachers, gardeners, bartenders, etc. In a town with such a high incidence of alien abductions like Strangetown, it makes sense.

I still haven't explored the other two vacation neighborhoods. There's a lot of stuff to try out! :D
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-10 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. It does make sense to have these randomly appearing in Strangetown, and if I need an extra alien sim, I can always use one of them.

I've checked out Twikki Island too, with another household from another neighbourhood, but I haven't gone to Takemizu Village yet. I'll bet that one is really cool. I love the tea service item (but I'm still crossing my fingers really hard for a more Western tea pot in that Apartment Life EP... that and bicycles).

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh and what is that hack, by the way? I did a Google search on it and found nothing. I thought it might be fun to try!

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-05-10 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't know where it came from originally, or who made it. But I distribute it from here: http://pixel-and-bean.livejournal.com/101183.html

There are two there, actually. One fixes some (but not all) of the problems with alien eyes. The other just unlocks hidden skins.

You have to be careful with zombie NPCs, though. Don't let them have kids! The skin doesn't exist for all ages, so if they have kids it breaks your game.

Where is this hack from again? I think I need it for in game. I think I remember someone talking about it six months ago, but well- that was six months ago.

And good call on the Canada goose call. I know you're from Canada, so you'll pronounce it correctly anyway. But NPR had a segment the other day chastising Americans for calling them Canadian goose/geese. Yes, it really does happen here.

This is just good ol' reinforcement. :)

That hack scares me, I like my human NPC's very much. And plus, how will I know if they're breedable if they have their zombie skin? :O

[identity profile] franwi.livejournal.com 2008-05-10 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I love that you get to play with them outside the structure of the story like this, it's such fun! Also I imagine the tour guide saying, "Okay now, in case we get cut off from civilization for some unexpected reason, which of you three has the tastiest brains?" ;P

Whoot! Canadian Sims players FTW!! I'm from Nova Scotia myself and glad to see there are lots of us, eh!! ;)

I love your story BTW,its nice to see how others are playin' Strangetown! :)
