Strangetown Extras: Vali Beaker

I'm preparing my game to install Free Time. That means removing all traces of InSIM for now (I leave those objects all over the place, so this was quite a task), and checking in with each household to make sure that everything is okay before I install the new EPs (yeah, I'm adding Bon Voyage too - goin' right crazy, I am). I'm also going to extract all the new character files from the game, just in case. Since babies don't show up in CAS, I thought it would be best to age up Vali Beaker. Are you ready for this? Yes?

Who's that pleasant looking little fellow?

Why it's Vali Beaker, son of Circe and Loki. No paternity test required here. That's definitely Loki's son (he has Circe's nose, though).

Did I say pleasant? I meant vicious. The personality stats say it all:

sloppy/neat: 10
shy/outgoing: 9
lazy/active: 8
serious/playful: 0
grouchy/nice: 0

After he works the puzzle piece in with his ingenuity and brute force, he contemplates further world domination.

Yeah, I'd say this is one guy to watch out for.

Wow, are we absolutely SURE that's Loki's son? Doesn't look a thing like him!

Come to the dark side of the EPs Strange, we are waiting for you.....

Oh my God... He is the spawn of SATAN! The personality is great- RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!

I love that last picture. Oh, and Free Time is AWESOME! I'm so glad you finally gave in and are going to install it.

Oh boy. He'll be a literal ankle-biter, that one. :P

I know. He might just be the mailman's son. Doesn't look anything like Loki AT ALL. I'm so pleased with him. Loki's genetics live on.

Oh, I'm on my way. Once I get everything in order, I'm there. I'm so looking forward to some of those new objects. And secondary aspirations! I can't wait to see how that will put a spin on things.

Oh, and I forgot to add (though I do think you know what I'm going to say)... Watch out for those crazy Bon Voyage people! If they come home from work/school with one of your Sims, prepare for their wacky cultural antics to spread through the family like the plague! You know about Tank with the bowing, but I don't think I ever mentioned that Maxis Curious is OBSESSED with doing the hula? (Yes, yet another gay OVERTONE. Thanks the Sims 2!)

He really does look like what I imagine Lucifer looks like. (And he matches the Lucifer from Neil Gaiman's The Sandman series, who is an awesome character.)

Isn't he cute? I love him, ever though I don't trust him AT ALL. He's evil cute.

I'm very excited to finally take the plunge. I know I will go crazy without InSIM, even with all the replacements that Madame Ugly collected (thanks for doing all the work, by the way, Madame). I expect to see it update soon anyway, so I can make do for now.

He's trouble, for sure. Circe loves him though. She worships him.

Another bad sign...

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've heard that those cultural things can be annoyingly persistent. I may have to get the MATY fix to reduce their frequency. I'm sure they'll be amusing though.

(As if we needed more gay overtones. What am I saying? I love the gay overtones. :P)

[identity profile] dothesmustle.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh boy, he's going to be one evil child!

The fact that he is outgoing and grouchy means he'll be one of those kids that manipulates you to eat ants or steal your lunch money, haha.

He pretty much has the same personality as one my favorite sims. *points to icon* She made that face a lot.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
You're so right. It's the bully personality. A really neat, serious bully.

Yeah, she looks like she has that personality. She looks SO angry! What a great face.

[identity profile] aledstrange.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
funny .. I thinks he's adorable!! really!! lol
I always love Beaker children (and usually get Circe some cheesecake *rolleyes* )

Good luck with the new Eps! make sure to get the fixes for the bad memory problems with FT and just so you know (if you don't already) the insim OBJ edition, tho is not updated yet, is very safe to use with the last ep. At least for the basic things its working fine for me.

[identity profile] indigoleo.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
The look on his face, his stance in the last picture, I can hear Mr. Burnses voice in my head - "Ah, excellent."

Oh, he is great. He's boing to be so much fun with that personality.

[identity profile] dothesmustle.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
He's active, too! He's going to torture his classmates during gym. Dodgeball..those poor future classmates of his.

[identity profile] orikes13.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
In that last picture, I know he's saying, 'Eeeexcellent."

Instead of a cooing little baby laugh, I'm sure his sounded like, "MUAHAHAHAHA!"

[identity profile] orikes13.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! On a side note, I've been using the OBJ version of the BV Insim, and it's been working fine. I'm still hoping for the full version to come out soon, but it's a nice stop gap at least.

[identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
They are really amusing on occasion! And some of them do fit. Bunker is constantly doing tai chi, which does match with his personality in a way. But Maxis and the hula... Holy shit. It is the funniest thing to watch because he does his big, goofy smile and shakes his booty like a giddy little girl. I have the greatest picture of him doing at the most inappropriate time that I really can't wait to post in outtakes.

It is those hacks that make me hate my brother and his cc paranoia. The hobby people get annoying too, because they just randomly show up at your house all the time once you hit a certain level of enthusiasm.

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. He looks great. Actually quite good looking compared to my Loki's son.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, those hacks that reduce annoying repetitive actions are great. You should try making a folder for them under downloads anyway. There's no evidence on it in the game (besides less annoying behaviours), so maybe you can sneak it past your brother, like the camera mod.

I'm definitely doing something to keep those hobby people out.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard people say that, but others have suggested that it isn't a good idea, and may create Very Bad Things to happen beneath the surface. The OBJ version is the version I always use anyway, so I guess I could do that if I have to.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, he's cute, sure, but he's probably not someone to mess with.

Thanks for reminding me about that memory thing. Was that a MATY fix?

Is it really safe? I've heard otherwise. I hear that it works well enough, but may cause issues if you use it. I tend to avoid anything that might cause problems, even if I'm being overly cautious.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow, he sure is... adorable.

I actually LOVE that personality. I hate playful Sims (DAMN YOU FUN DRAG!) and Nice Sims annoy me. So, he rocks. xP

[identity profile] orikes13.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't had any problems with it, and someone I trust quite a bit recommended it to me.

I was going to go without when FreeTime came out, but then one of my sims got pregnant and wouldn't pop. ACR kept indicating she was pregnant, but nothing I would do would make her actually pop. I finally said to heck with it and aborted the stuck pregnancy and used InSim to speed up a new pregnancy (so she wouldn't lose any more time than she already had).

[identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's worth a try! Anything to make it stop from spreading throughout the whole town. Those hobby people are such stalkers. It really bothers me when they start calling for the children too.

[identity profile] aledstrange.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Not at Maty, its at the InTeen site (by twojeffs) and there are a few more at Paladin's place (simwardrobe) too.

Well, so far the OBJ edition (that version, not the others) seams to be ok, of course you can never be 100% sure about anything. Even with previous eps and updated insim I'd encounter a few probs, but generally for basic things like buying clothing, change day/time, personality/turn on-offs, seams to be working fine. I even used to grow up sims already without any prob. Of course that's just my experience so far

Whoa. Scary kid. And I can imagine just how Circe will nurture his qualities.
