Did you know that the practical joking element of April Fools Day was most likely started in France? In France (or French cultures, like in French Canada) the person being fooled is referred to as a poisson d'avril, or April fish. This originally had something to do with the zodiac, and the French traditionally celebrated April Fools Day by placing dead fish on the backs of their friends. (No, I'm not making this up!)

Johnny: You're going down, Grunt!

Ripp: Ooooof!

Johnny: Oh, NICE! A direct hit!

Ripp: Owwww! Watch the face, Johnny!

Johnny: Fish in the face!

Ripp: I'll bet you'd fucking love that, huh, Johnny? A big face full of fish?

Johnny: Don't get it in my mouth! I'm a vegetarian!

Ripp: That doesn't count, John.

Johnny: Face your defeat, Ripp. You're no match for me.

Ripp: Yeah, you have all the fucking skills, Johnny. Nobody slings a fish around quite like you do.

Johnny: Good workout! Now I don't need to go for a jog.

Ripp: Why jog when you can play with giant fish?

Ripp: Another challenger, hey? You'll be sorry, Phi...

Ophelia: Oh, we'll see about that!

Ripp: *gets pummeled*

Ripp: You call that a fish slap?! You hit like a girl, Phi!

Ophelia: So do you!

Ripp: You'll pay for that remark!

Ophelia: Bring it on!

Ripp: It's easy to hit such a nice, round target!

Ophelia: Hey! Watch it!

Ripp: *thinking* Such a sweet, sweet target...

Ophelia: It's not THAT big!

Ripp: Nothing wrong with a little junk on the trunk, Phi. Nothing at all... *stares*

Ophelia: You're an April fool alright. Get your face out of there!

Ripp: This is my favourite day of the year. Fuckin' sweet...

Ophelia: You're in for it!

Ripp: Oh, that's right! Punish me.

OMG... this is so funny! I think I'm going to d/l the fish and then take out my mod for no auto pillow fights... and then wait and see if and when my oldest daughter notices when she plays! :-P Wouldn't that be a hoot??? Oh, I'm sorry about that! I must have missed it. An easy way to do it would be to click on "post" from your own journal and then select simstorytellers from the "post to:" menu. It should be included there if you are a member.

(I think part of the problem is that our new layout does not show the personal navigation bar right now, and the "post to this community" link is usually in that. We're looking to fix that soon.)

Heheh. Don't challenge me to a gross contest. You will lose. (And maybe it's because I grew up next to a beach, and ended up covered in the stuff a lot of the time, but fish spawn doesn't bother me at all.)

Ah, I always expect flung tomatoes when I bring out the truly bad puns. I love them, though. Part of it's because of my ESL status, but really I just can't resist a truly bad word pun. :D I mean. 'Orange you glad to see me' STILL cracks me up.

Heheh. Fish fights are way too much fun. I thought that most people would have already heard about the fish mod, since it's been around for a while (I think I first read about it on pixel_and_bean's journal). I figured there's always a chance that someone missed it, so why not share anyway?

I know. Isn't it great? Someone put a lot of time and effort into making fish fighting a reality for our sims. There is always something new and amusing to discover out there.

As funny as that mod is, it's so hard to work into a story. At least, there's always outtakes!

April Fools Day seemed like the best reason to use it that I've ever come across. I'm glad I remembered it, since it is a really cool mod.

The spawn itself isn't really that gross, it's the act of squeezing it out onto me, like some nasty reproductive toothpaste.

And it would smell bad. Really bad, like deep fried groundhog.

Fish scales would have been so cool, but there's something sort of absurdly funny in its own right about hitting someone with a fish and having feathers shoot everywhere.

Oh, it's cute! I think I caught one of those, once, when I was crabbing. Or it might have been a toadfish, which is similarly spiky and ugly-cute.

No, you must be mistaken. :P You couldn't have seen a sculpin if you thought it was cute... they're large(ish) and frightening, and they kick up hell when you pull them up from the deep. When we jig for codfish, we always pray not to pull one up. They're hard to get off the hook, with all the spikes and the stinging.

I'm not sure what she pulled up, but my aunt told me that she once pulled up something so hideously frightening that my grandfather took it and said, "Oh, that's the devil." And he was DEAD SERIOUS. Pop was the best. (All this fish talk makes me sentimental.)

Children actually do that, you know. With capelin. And it is a little like shooting toothpaste, only not as thick. Pretty nasty if it gets on you.
