Strangetown: Ripp's new hair. I did it myself!

Thank you to everyone who offered suggestions to my hair mesh problem, and particularly those who gave me a nudge to open up Bodyshop and give it a whirl myself. [personal profile] music_simbol suggested this mesh, which was more or less the same basic shape as the Maxis ponytail, but about half as long. Then she insisted that switching up the textures would be super easy to do, and it really was! Recolouring isn't hard, especially when it is a basic cut and paste job like this one was (and changing the hue would be easy too, I imagine). I could do that again, no problem. Thanks, Music Simbol! You rock.

Want to see how it looks?

Ripp: Yessir! Looks about the same from the front, but how about the back?

Ripp: Yeah, that's more like it. Still slightly longer than it would be, but pretty darn close. (And it's longer than a fucking dork knob, thankyouverymuch!)

Ripp: Damn, I look good. Oh yeah... and the hair looks pretty fucking sweet too. If, you know, I actually wanted to tidy up for some reason. Pffft. Whatever.

As you can see, the mesh isn't perfect (some of the animation is a little wonky too - revealing other oddities), but I can easily work around that when taking the photos. I'm so pleased that this worked out.

But why would Ripp want or need to put his hair up? Hmmm... Is he trying to give off a good impression? But why?

The answer will be revealed in the next chapter.

Oh, I like those! Especially the purple one (I love purple). I did a recolour of that striped H&M dress myself... wait, let me find it...

Here:

Photobucket

Stella and Jayne, modeling some of my alien-friendly recolours. I love pink and purple combined with green. Complimentary colour schemes (and those just off from them) really appeal to me.

I'm glad to see that you've given this a shot too. We've made the move from being a consumer to a creator, and that's always a great feeling. It's a big part of what this game is all about, right?

Hey, those look pretty good too! :)

Pink is my favorite color for clothing. In the rare times I got out shopping, I always have to remind myself to not buy pink stuff and choose other colors instead. I noticed a sad lack of pink, purple and orange in the Maxis meshes, so that's why I did those colors first.

And I also love the combination of pink with green or black.

Yep! It feels pretty good to actually create something for a change! Even if it's just a recolor for now ^^.

Thanks!

I'm a big fan of pink too (the range from orange, red, pink, to purple appeals to me the most, out of all of the colours). The last shirt I bought was bright pink and it's making the last leg of winter easier to tolerate.

I totally agree. And recolours are also often limited to vibrant, primary/secondary colours, or neutrals, so I'm interested in making some more offbeat things.

Well, a recolour is something. That's more than I was making a couple of days ago. And that was always what I was interested in finding and downloading, so some of this stuff might appeal to other players too.
