Sorry for all the Sims 3 spam, but this is funny...

Some things never change, I guess.

I invited him over for the night, and he brought the baby with him (too cheap/poor to hire a nanny?), and then he revealed that sims will always be clueless parents if they're left to their own devices. This was like one of those surrounded by idiots challenges.

I think the cocoon blanket is so it looks less cruel when the babies are inevitable left on the floor, maybe.

How is this guy supposed to raise this kid on his own? Who would think that was a good idea?!

At least the poor baby is not naked. I always felt sorry for the poor little naked thing on the floor and I made every adult Sim running after it if that happened to me.

Yes, the blanket does come in handy that way. It doesn't seem like sleeping in that bundle would be all that bad.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
You may be on to something. The blanket does make it less cruel (especially if they were on the floor and crying, you can't see them flail like in sims 2).

I'm so right. Think about it...

Which is easier to program?

Smarter AI for sims or adding a dumb blanket to the babies?

The answer is clear.

[identity profile] showercapfrog.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, look, he's just like his (adopted) dad. I think it's like the new version of the aliens - random babies are randomly dropped onto random men so that men can also have babies!

Cocoon still looks freaky though.

But is the baby genetically related to him? I hope so. It's still odd that it has nothing to do with any other sim, but it should be some oopsie baby that someone dumped on him, at least.

Completely random adopted babies for single guys is kinda lame.

It sure does. It sure does. :P

[identity profile] showercapfrog.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope it is. I want to give Don some doorstep babies, but he'd be such a terrible father that I'm loath to do it until he learns some important parenting skills.

It`s the way the story telling mode keeps the hood populated... By dumping babies who seem to have no mother on single guys. I think they are genetically related, maybe a little too much. Clone?

[identity profile] simgarooop.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 11:30 am (UTC)(link)

LOL!

Poor guy, that baby has left him exhausted!

(Bad Sim parenting is Tradition -yes, in capital letters- so I guess they had to left it in the Sims 3. Otherwise, what are we Legacy players going to complain about then? :P)

Yes, you do have a point. We wouldn't want things to be too perfect for them, would we?

I'm most disturbed that he doesn't have any baby items yet, even though a day or so have passed, and I went over there again. The baby is still on the floor, and when I dropped in to his house again, he had Simis (I think) Bachelor just hanging out on his bed for some reason.

We may not have many storytelling tools, but the free will does create some bizarro situations for stories.

Perfect picture! I think you should help that guy. :)

[identity profile] zepheera.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
On the bright side, if there's a crib available, the parents are more likely to put them IN the crib than on the floor...

They're just put upon to actually BUY the cribs.

[identity profile] ikichi.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, at least you can have a crib for when he brings the sprog over, if you can't actually give him one.

Does little Oopsie have a name yet?

I love that little blanket, reminds me of when my lot were first born... they love to be wrapped up like that, makes them feel secure.

*sighs*

[identity profile] silentsteel.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That's why the blanket-cocoon doesn't creep me out. I can remember my youngest sister being comforted that way, and my new nephew does too!

[identity profile] swhedonberry.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The cocoon blanket gives me the image of Ripp getting tanked outta his mind and stealing baby Jesus from a Christmas creche only to realize that it was a living nativity.

"I could've sworn that plastic Joseph was talking to me, Phi."

Bubble makes you do crazy things.

[identity profile] meetme2theriver.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Even so, why couldn't they have put a little outfit on the baby instead of the cocoon? It can't require that much work. Unless there's no actual lower body inside that thing... do you ever actually see them outside the cocoon at all?

Also, faily parent is faily.

[identity profile] leskuh.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless there's no actual lower body inside that thing...

I physically recoiled in horror upon reading that even though there's a good chance that it's true. D:

Sorry! It wouldn't surprise me too much if it was the case, though. :(

Thank you. ^_^ I'm glad you've enjoyed reading the story, and sure you can friend me if you want to follow it.

I hope everything works out with your copy of Sims 3. It is pretty fun, as long as you go into it fresh and don't really expect it to be Sims 2 (or, in my mind, a worthy successor to it). But yeah, it's fun, and there's a lot of interesting things to discover in it.

Nice to meet you. ^_^

[identity profile] mandies-sims.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha, what a picture! I love it!

I think the little babies in their blankets are too cute. Too bad you can't take the blanket off. Have you seen twins in your game yet? If only one sim goes to the hospital and has twins, they bring them home in a little basket. It's cute! I think the adoption people bring babies over in a basket as well. Very cute!

I wanna toy with your unfamiliar guy.

Are you planning on uploading him?

[identity profile] ktbbs.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
