I know what you mean. When I was reading the Harry Potter books, I knew that Ron and Hermione would end up together after reading the first book. Sometimes I'm wrong, but I can usually call things like that too.
You get a couple of hints that Jill could potentially like Buck, from her point of view. She did think that they were a perfect match as friends, and so much alike. I like diving into the character's heads for those brief passages told in a pseudo first person perspective (well, Jill and Jayne did have their own actual first-person chapters, so there might be more of those too, though they will be rare. I would have a huge laugh writing a chapter entirely from Ripp's point of view. It would be hilariously vulgar.) I'm glad you think that those glimpses work well. It helps to show how limited their understanding of the other characters can be.
