Random: Does anyone want a copy of Bitch magazine No. 42?

Is anyone interested in the Noir Issue (No. 42) of Bitch magazine? I ended up with two copies, so one of these Bitches needs a good home. I know that someone previously mentioned that they were interested in it, and couldn't buy a copy in their country, but I can't remember who that was.

Anyway, I'll mail it to someone. If more than one person is interested, I guess I'll have to put your names in a hat.

Their tagline is "feminist response to pop culture" and that's it in a nutshell. They examine pop culture from a feminist perspective, and it's quite readable. Each issue has a theme, and this one is noir.

Yeah, it's a US magazine, so that shouldn't be a problem. I just started subscribing to it here (I have access to it at newsstand, but I wanted to support them), and that's how I ended up with two copies.

It's a good read. I usually read them cover to cover (and I keep the backissues - I have librarian tendencies).

Yeah, don't force yourself to read Twilight. It honest-to-god isn't worth it. Ignoring all of it's creepy problems, it's still just not that good.

Okay, yeah. That article is awesome and really points out a lot of why the Twilight series is really sort of creepy. Like, honestly I wouldn't mind Twilight so much if Bella and Edward's relationship had been acknowledged as SERIOUSLY FUCKED UP for more reasons than just - he's a vampire.

Because it's more to do with the characters themselves and how Bella is basically has no identity without him and how controlling Edward is and ugh. Yeah.

Hmmm, yeah I think it was you, now that you've mentioned it. I'm sure it's probably possible for you to subscribe, but I know that international postage might make that fairly pricey.

That article was far more interesting to read than Twilight is. I haven't been able to get past the first chapter in the book yet. I love that they share some of the articles online like that. Did you find any other interesting articles on the topic?

I'm usually all for finding out things first hand but as a "hard core" Buffy fan I felt dirty even thinking about reading Twilight *lol* (Almost not kidding) I had a lot of fun reading cleolinda's livejournal about the books and the movie though - http://community.livejournal.com/m15m/19551.html for example. Oh, and this article - http://io9.com/5096763/twilight-makes-for-the-best-fanwank-ever - held me entertained for a while too. I think I spend almost a whole day (at work...) following the different links :P
