From your story, I got the impression that she 1) doesn't want to be a burden on anyone, especially Johnny (she turned to Ripp partially because he had lost a parent and had a bad home life too, right?) and 2) didn't think she'd be able to help Johnny understand what she was going through. So far, the only thing Johnny has shown a need for help/guidance with is the Jayne sitch, and well, I don't blame him for not going to Phi about that (yet).

I know that I give Johnny a hard time- I've seen him spend a lifetime obsessing over a guy who cheated on Jill (how he knew they had dated I'll never know). But he is the prince in this trio. I don't know, it feels to me like Phi's more of a safety net to him. (And yea, it's all love, but I have friends I love dearly that I wouldn't marry in a million years- part of it is that's not how I love them, and part is knowing we'd never work in anything other than a platonic/family relationship.)
