The icon says it all (with a smile)

Don't ask me why I was so dedicated to the task of making an icon with Ripp giving you all the finger, but once the idea popped into my head, it became a personal challenge (and you never know when something like that could come in handy, right?). Sim hands are ridiculously stumpy and lacking in detail, so it looks pretty goofy and a little like one of those foam sports hands that fans wave, but I think it came out looking okay, don't you?

The stupid grin keeps it playful, so even when used to tell someone to sit on it, it doesn't appear overly aggressive. I can easily imagine Johnny on the receiving end of this gesture, instead of, say, Tank.

I have writer/simmer's block. Can you tell?

*gasp* Ripp would never do such a thing. Take it back!

Heehee.

You have that New Project Energy. It's a great thing, so don't feel guilty at all. Get it moving! Maybe your updates will start an avalanche of other updates.

I hit a bit of a wall with my story, and how I'm ever going to get through all the big gaps in the plot to the parts I want to write. But I'm just going to try to drag it all along, and if you don't like it, Ripp will give you the finger. :P

PLOT HOLES? In S, HWC? LIES, I TELL YOU! The story is delicious no matter what. You could have Mint save the day using her awesome powers of randomness and I would still love it.

Well, that's reassuring, because that's exactly what happens.

Just kidding, of course, but it's set to be a bumpy ride in places. The Strangetown experts are going to find lots of stuff in their fine-tooth combs, if they go looking, but I'm okay with that. Who needs it to make perfect sense, right? It's a sim story!

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
I KNEW MINT WOULD SAVE THE DAY.

That's okay. As long as it;s interesting (and not TOO out there- it would be odd if Olive Specter rose from the dead to kill everyone except The Gang the I would have some problems) and awesome, I'm sure it will be excellent.

So, blowing up half the town with one of Loki's contraptions wouldn't fly? He WAS building a nuclear reactor, you know.

I often have considered a storyline (maybe not for this story, but for something) where Loki does something like that and then the desert falls into a permanent winter, and they're buried in snow. With Seasons, it can happen.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I'd buy that. Loki is SO the Mad Scientist type, and Eternal Winters are always fun. (Would people die though? I can imagine numerous people would die from the blast, maybe even some important people! [Well, the gang would STILL be in college, and it depends on where the blast takes place but...]

No you've got me thinking about this. :P

I've had that idea in the back of my head since my early sims days on the BBS of the official Sims 2 site (before I wandered onto livejournal). I devised "the disaster scenario", which involves randomly killing off half of the town in any of the premade hoods and playing out the consequences (I mentioned Loki's reactor as a possible explanation for the event). I did it in Pleasantview, and it was a lot of fun.

If you want to read about it, it's here.

And I did consider it for Strangetown, HWC too, if I needed something to stir things up, but that was an old idea. I probably wouldn't do that now. I'm too attached to the characters. Even the ones I'm not so fond of. (Yes, even Ajay! :P)

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
That's awesome. I would NEVER do something like that, but I'm already very fond of killing characters off. (If I ever finish the Thornn Legacy chapter I started working on like six months ago you'll see.)

And random, how could you survive the BBS? I got hives from just being there. *shudders*

I'm proud of myself for doing it. Why be so precious with it, right? (Says someone who is unreasonably attached to her current Strangetown - what a hypocrite.) I love Pleasantview, but I had already played with it a couple of times, and I wanted something new. I loled at some of the reactions too. "You monster!" :P

The BBS was painful, but I wasn't aware of the larger community at the time, so I tolerated it for the occasional sensible person (and they're there). Pretty funny, huh? I guess I really wasn't looking. This was all pre-cc for me too. My simming computer wasn't even connected to the internet.

"that's exactly what happens." OH AWESOME. I LOVE MINT!
And it doesn't need to make sense. You write well enough that we'll be distracted...

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I do like Mint, and she'll probably be coming into her own as a character soon. It gets distracting to have so many characters, and it's impossible to feature them all equally and still have some sort of focus to the story (if that's possible at all), but I like to have all the supporting cast pop in from time to time.

Yeah, I'll polish that turd so well, you'll never even know there was absolutely no content. :P

[identity profile] showercapfrog.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I have difficulties focussing where I want my plot to go too (although my story is nowhere near as developed as yours). There are just so many sims!

Ooh, shiny turds! Just what the doctor ordered!

(Also, the explosion sounds like an awesome idea. I don't want to post hundreds of comments on the same entry though... Eternal Winter, and Johnny would have escaped because of the aliens. Ripp and Phi would assume he'd died though, and then VALI takes over the world!)

My story is a hot mess in places. I know this. I'm going to have to just go with it, and explain it away in what I hope is an amuisingly self-aware manner.

*snicker* It's all about the shiny surface.

Yeah, it has some good potential, doesn't it? I like the drama it would bring.

Vali does need to take over the world. Maybe that's how the story will end.

[identity profile] showercapfrog.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
That is actually believable. Vali has the evilness and intelligence to get away with it, even though he's a toddler. He's like Stewie, from Family Guy.

(It's not like it's a published book, so it can have lots of plot holes. Ripp will fall into one, and appear in our universe! And give us all the finger.)

Okay, I'll stop spamming you now.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Heheh. I need to get the story to a point where I can make use of Vali's birthright of evil. He's a great little terror.

Yeah, that's very true. Anyone who expects more than that is expecting too much. It's pretty obvious that I'm making up a lot of it as I go along, right? ;)

I don't mind. I'm procrastinating from various things here. But, yeah... I should go now. It's late here.

Thanks for gabbin' with me.
