Strangetown extras: The creation of Lyla Grunt

I decided that I wanted to actually show Lyla Grunt in the next Strangetown chapter, and since I'm not about to mess around with the one in Olive's cemetery, I created my own version in CAS. Also, judging from what I've seen with the ghost Lyla, she doesn't exactly measure up genetically, so I took some liberties. I created her from extracted versions of Ripp and Buck. Since Tank resembles Buzz so much, that seemed to make the most sense. I already mentioned that Ripp has her eyes, so I was sure to keep that accurate too. Anyway, I got so excited with the results, that I thought I'd give a little sneak peek.

Here's Lyla with toddler Buck. He's so cute I could eat him! (Isn't it scary when people talk about eating babies? Yet everyone does it!) I made my own nose for Lyla, but everything else came from Buck or Ripp, and mostly Buck, I think (all of her cheek, chin, and lip area is Buck's, and the eyebrows might be Ripp's. The boys all have pretty similar eyebrows anyway).

I think that Lyla turned out quite pretty. It bodes well for any future daughters that Ripp or Buck may have.

Awww. Ripp is Mom's boy, of course. Now that Lyla has a face, it's even sadder for me.

This one is just so you can see her from a frontal view.

And one more of lazy little Ripp, because I just love him! What a little punk. The first thing he did when I dropped him on the lot was rush to the television too. He's so predictable.

Awww!!! She's so pretty! And little Ripp is way too adorable. :D

Oooh, I reckon she's mighty purrtey!

Does this mean an update is in the works?

Yeah, she pretty, isn't she? :) I like how she's kinda chubby in the cheeks, and I was careful to make sure her nose wasn't too small (let's be realistic here). I knew the eyes would be pretty, since Ripp does have big pretty eyes. I'm so pleased!

I love little Ripp. His personality really comes through too, even as a child.

Well, I like her. It makes me wonder that the hell Buzz was thinking when he lost interest. It's much better that she looks like she's actually related to the rest of them too, I think.

Oh, it's in the works, alright. If I wasn't working so much (at actual jobs), it would be coming a lot faster. I'm hoping for results in the next few days, and I also want to prepare a couple of Christmas extras to post over the holidays, while I'm out of town (since I'm going to be visiting the parental units, on the other side of the island, with no access to my sims).

Speaking of updates... *grin*... how's the asylum treating you?

Lyla is lovely (and so's the dress she's wearing).

And little lazy Ripp. *snort* Can't even close his mouth. Lazy little mouth breather.

Well, I'm glad you think so. I'm pretty chuffed with how she turned out. The dress is a recolour of an H&M dress that I'm pretty fond of (recolour is from MTS2). I especially like how the dress doesn't make her waif-sized. It works with the chubby cheeks. She's not exactly heavy, but she has a little meat on her bones.

Yeah, really! Mouth breather! *snort* Ripp's a lazy slob, but I love him anyway.

...............yeah.

I'm working on the asylum update. I have about 70-ish pics so far, but the past updates have had at least 100, so I need to play a bit more. I think after the last mode update, I got a little simmed out, so I needed a break. I know I said Tuesday last time, but I really do hope to have it done sometime tomorrow.

Oh and.........there'll be some exciting news about.......well.......you know who......... *laughs maniacally*

Ahhh, bless. :) I was hoping for that, of course. I will be looking forward to it. Of course, if you want to do a shorter update, I have no problems with that either.

That is awesome. I adore these shots of her with her boys. Her looks came together very nicely. I like that she's more motherly than modely. She's pretty, but she fits in. Toddler Buck and lazy Ripp are adorable! That nose and cheeks on Buck makes me smile, you can really tell it's him. I hope his thin hair isn't a sign of things to come later for him, lol. So does this mean Lyla might be alive and making a reappearance, or will this be for flashback purposes? I'm looking forward to finding out!

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I like how she worked out. I didn't have to do too many alterations from the randomly generated sim (just the nose). She's so much better for not being model perfect.

I think the Grunt boys are just too cute for words as children. I can't handle all the cuteness.

Well, we can't prevent baldness from happening, now, can we? :p Maybe this will happen much later down the road...

As for the flashback vs. reappearance question, I can't really say, for fear of ruining the surprise, but we will see, we will see...

Lyla is lovely! :D
OMG, toddler Buck, child Ripp! I want to reach into the moniter and pinch his little cheeks (not that I've ever done that to a child)!
The picture of Ripp and Lyla is almost bittersweet, because he just looks so happy and, of course, his mother wasn't there for him when he was older. *sniffle*
Still, she did come out very nice. Can't wait for the next update.

It is pretty sad, isn't it? They really do miss her, and stepping back into the past like this just makes it more real to me. It helps to make the actions of the Grunt brothers more understandable. I kept thinking of Ripp losing it at the dinner with Elise, and how he would never be able to accept her as a replacement for Lyla.

I kept thinking of Ripp losing it at the dinner with Elise, and how he would never be able to accept her as a replacement for Lyla.

I'd like to think that Elise didn't think out what she said before she said it. It was a bad choice of words, the ones you regret almost as soon as you utter them. Ripp has never stopped grieving her loss.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, Elise said that without fully thinking about how it would sound. It was a mistake. She didn't mean to imply that she could replace Lyla, but she does hope that she can be like a mother to the boys, and try to make up for that loss in their lives. I'm sure that Buzz hopes for that too.

Ripp really hasn't stopped grieving that loss, and he hasn't had a chance for any type of closure on it either, since the details surrounding it remain a mystery. I imagine that some small part of him does still hope that she'll show up again one day, even though he told Johnny that he doesn't really believe that.

It think that the very idea that Elise would be anything even resembling a mother to him is a completely offensive notion to Ripp.

Oh wow, she's quite pretty! I really need to figure out how to use the body shop properly. The child and baby versions of the Grunt boys are beyond cute!!

I love Body Shop and CAS, especially the pacifier that randomly mixes genes for you. It's actually quite sad to admit how often I test out the potential children of sims that way. It also helped me to realize that my simself should never, ever breed. (If you ever need a good sim for starting an uglacy, though, let me know.)

I'm glad you enjoyed Lyla and her little cuties. *smile*

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-01-09 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Never mind about my Lyla question, in my comments to your latest. I'm still catching up on what I missed, and just found this. You did a good job. :)

I *will* comment on the earlier entries, btw, I just want to get all or at least most of it read first. I also realize now that I DID read several of them when you posted them, but it was always at work, in little snatches here and there. Not conducive to getting the full picture or giving meaningful feedback...

Aww... Poor Ripp. After reading your story I think I might be in love with Ripp too *lol* You write him so well!

[identity profile] missgan.livejournal.com 2008-09-23 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Lyla is beautiful.
She's not exactly heavy, but she has a little meat on her bones.
I like that. It makes her seem more real, more down-to-earth to me, very motherly & lovely.

The pictures of her with Ripp & Buck are very sweet. Did Tank really not inherit anything from her at all? :/ That's kinda sad, but I do like the idea that Ripp & Buck take after her so much, while Tank's really is his father's son, even in appearance.

Poor Elise! She's got a lot to live up to.

Awww, the little Grunts are cute. And I like your version of Lyla.
