Thanks! The Grunts seem to have made some progress, haven't they? I give Buck most of the credit, really. He's the one that brings out the best in the family.
Buck's face on the phone was perfect. You just know that Ripp is telling him the most graphic thing imaginable. Ripp loves to scandalize people. Buck gave me lots of good material to work with for this chapter. I love his "YES!!" expression when Buzz lets him paint his room too. And the transition outfit... well, usually I just ignore them and re-dress the characters before I show them (like the college transitions - only Johnny transitioned into the outfit he's currently wearing), but I thought that one was worth playing for a laugh. And Buck is right... it is sort of hot, just not at all what I had envisioned for him.
As for Buck's room... I briefly considered pink too, but it just didn't seem right. The purple seemed more tasteful, and much more like Buck.
I really like that hairstyle for Johnny, since it balances out his long face, and it seems to be a natural progression from his teen 'do. He was just one haircut away from having that hair instead.
The shower thing amused me greatly. It gives you a better idea of how Ripp's mind works. A little gratuitous nudity is always good too.
Yeah, Jayne and Johnny really are a lot alike. Both are pretty chatty too, so that first conversation wasn't too hard for them. The booze helped too. :)
Jayne's eyebrows are something else, aren't they? If you go back to the Prologue and check out Mr. Doe, you'll see why. I based him on someone who has very prominent eyebrows, so there you go. They actually seem to work fine with Jayne's huge eyes. Johnny's brows are much more feminine than Jayne's (like, he seems like he obviously plucks them to me).
Yeah, P.T. hasn't exactly filled Johnny in on all of the details of sex and alien biology, since he assumes that he won't need to know it until marriage, and then he's just going to pump out some kids anyway. Marriage is a very big deal to P.T., and many aliens are like him. It's a detail worth noting.
