Strangetown Extras: Now I'm just teasing you

I've been playing and writing a little, working towards the next Strangetown update, which should happen sometime this week. The next chapter involves a lot of characters in some small way, so I've been working my way around town and catching up with everyone. It's been a lot of fun. We'll get to see a lot of the characters that people have been asking about (yes, that does include Vidcund... many of you will be happy to know that I've been working on his story a lot lately, and have found an increased interest in him). I have a couple of fun surprises in this next one too.

We'll see a couple of new faces, including this guy:




Art hands! C'mon, everyone's doin' it!


Also, hair is a bit of a running theme. One or more people may be getting new hairstyles.

I never think of using a custom skin like that (probably because I so often use the premade characters as they are in the game), but it's a good option for the next original character I design. I have no idea about geneticizing things, but I don't think I'd mind that being dominant anyway. Freckles seem like they do get carried on through families like that.

I tried some freckles in the past, but none of them really looked right to me. Now that I've found some that I like, I'll probably end up using them all the time too. You'd expect people on Strangetown to have them, really, given how much sun damage they must get from living in the desert.

I'm not sure that Ripp has fallen that far from grace... yet. *snicker* Actually, you'll see that he's at least attempting to be true to his word and, to quote him, is giving Johnny's "healthy living crap" a try.

I had a lot of fun piling the accessories on that guy. I feel it's a general tendency for people to either wear little to no jewelry, or as much as possible all at once. This guy is in the second category. I'm having a lot of fun with that new feature, and you'll see more characters with jewelry in this update. I wish the long dangly earrings worked on guys, though. Maybe I'll have to look for BV compatible jewelry downloads (I tried some before, but I hated how it used up your full face makeup category - I need that for scars and contacts, etc). I could see me making an 80's cool guy with one long dangly earring at some point.

I can't say too much more, but the resemblance is there for a reason. He's one of my Veronaville imports. Now whether that's an original character or a Maxis-made one, I won't say just yet.

Well, since I don't play in any other 'hoods, I wouldn't recognize the guy even if he came up and said "Hey, how'ya doing? I'm so and so." before biting me on the ass. XD

BUT I will say I LOVE his outfit. Is it a Maxis that I've overlooked? If not I don't care I must have it.

That outfit is a Maxis outfit. It's a download from the official site. You can find it here. I used the original on Hal Capp and a recolour on this guy (from MTS2), who is also from Veronaville, so it much be a trend over there. :P

Yup. More Vidcund. He has new clothes too, which I'm very excited about. They suit him perfectly. He looks good, but he needs a new hairdo (and who knows... maybe he'll get one). I've already replaced his bowl cut with something equally nerdy, but a little tidier (that OFB hair). Like Pascal, I can't really picture him with good hair. These guys are nerds in the purest scholarly sense, and stereotype or not, that's a magnet for bad hair. They even came that way in the game, right? Now, with some feminine influence... that could change. ;)

Hehehe, I didn't mention Ripp. I'm sure there are a few bodies on campus that could be enticed into it, setting aside their morals for the promise of simoleans. You could end up with some pretty interesting pairings that way. Okay, I have to stop daydreaming on this or it'll prejudice my impressions of this new character! ;)

I'll have you know that they don't even take up half the update. Not even a quarter, even. At least not the first part, anyway (though they do dominate the second half, from what I can see right now).
