Strangetown Extras: Jill Smith

This is just a little collection of images of Jill Smith. I was going to call it a photoshoot, but that makes it sound more exciting than it is. This is just to give a better idea of what Jill looks like to anyone who might be interested. *whistles innocently*

(Yeah, I'm up to something... but can you guess what it is?)

Those last few were reference shots for Buck. He does like to paint Jill.

Whistles innocently, my ass! !

If I could draw, I'd totally sketch your characters. But, unless you want stick figures, I'll leave it to others. :P

Oh, heheh... this isn't a blatant attempt to request drawings. I'm more than lucky to have someone drawing them already. I have a reason for doing this, but I don't want to say what I'm really up to just yet.

Now, if you want to draw them, you're more than welcome. ;) I'm sure your stick figures are lovely.

Ah, yes - very nice.

Also, I don't think I've said it, but I really love that dress on Jill.

She's so pretty! Makes me want to draw her too. The dress she's wearing is perfect!
Speaking of drawings... I just posted one up which deals with a certain sexy hermaphrodite plant-like creature here. ;)

OH, Buck's painting is awesome! Is that Squireltamer's (whose lj username I can't remember) sketch of Jill?

And it looks like Buck has gone into the zone with his art there.

I think Buck will be able to draw her pretty well using those shots. Don't you agree? ;)

Thanks. I'm really quite pleased with Jill's look. I like how the colours are coordinated, but also sort of wild. Jill just seems like one of those people who uses college as an opportunity to experiment with a new look.

I really want to draw some of these sims too. Jill would be a good one to try, since she has a simple, pretty face with small features, and big distracting details, like her hair. (And thanks. I love that H&M dress, and it came in the perfect colours. You use that one on Stella in a different colour, don't you?)

Oh, how cool! :D I love this wave of people drawing characters from sim stories. Yours are very cool, and I love how you did those three different versions of her. I like that about sim stories too.

Yeah, that is one of squirrel_tamer's sketches. They're very cool, aren't they? I'm also excited to use it to test out the custom painting feature of the game, which I haven't taken advantage of yet, but plan to, with my new wave of art students. Right now, I have Buck, Lucy Burb, Monica Bratford (one of the sorority gals), and Jayne Doe in the art program, so I'll be showing a little more of the inner workings of the Fine Arts building. Why not write what you know, right?

Buck is so in the zone. I've been playing him and Jill quite a bit in their apartment, and they're really excelling at their hobbies. Jill is into literature (and in the game, she's already written a couple of novels, but we'll get to that in the story eventually... she does get into writing, which goes back to her keeping a diary). Buck has maxed creativity and has obtained a gold talent badge in sewing too. I needed to get him some new clothes, so I've just been making them from the buy catalogue, which is very cool.

It's about time you get around to using that custom painting thing. It's awesome.

Question: Is that "in the zone" glow causing you any troubles pic wise? I'm worried sims will "zone" too easily (like after only a few minutes doing someting zone worthy) and then when I go to get game pics I'll be pissed by the glowing.

Yeah, it's not a big deal I'm just wondering if it'll become an issue (and, can it be turned off--like when you use that one cheat to turn off the cartoony type effects like the stars when someone gets slapped)

She's so pretty. ^_^

[identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, her small features are why I want to take a stab at drawing her. Though I think her hair is lovely, I think it would be hell for me to draw (I despise drawing hair!) so I think it'll be good practice.
Yep! I use the pink and blue one for Stella. I just love those colors on her skin tone. Them and purple of course! Thank you! :)

I love drawing hair. It's noses and hands that are tricky for me (especially hands... and I'm not alone there, if you check out an art history book). It's a fun hairstyle to draw, since you can make it really wild looking, with all those pieces.

You're just like me. I love putting purple and pink on aliens because it's the complimentary colour for their skin (or just off, which is always nice too). I like dressing them up in green too, to match. You have to really think about the colour on those aliens. You don't want to clash with their pretty skin. :)

Yeah, I know. It's really fun, and easy too. You just drop the images into that folder, and you're ready to go. I've been planning to use it for ages, so it's nice to finally get off my ass and do it.

I haven't had any issues with that yet, but I can see it coming. Ripp can't even dance without glowing anymore, so that's annoying. They do zone very easily too, once they're at the highest hobby enthusiasm level. There is a fix for it here:

http://www.djssims.com/index.php?category=1&subcat=2

I think I'll be adding that. I can always take it out if I want the effect for some reason. It's more annoying than the cartoon effects to me. Those seem to fit, but I don't need random glowing. It does bother me.

Jill is pretty, now that her nose has grown into her face a little better. She has such cute little features.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, so do they only glow if it's their one true hobby, or for any hobby they get to the top of?

If it's OTH, then maybe you could just switch the hobby to avoid the glow.

Or get that fix. . .why am I still so stuck on finding the hardest way to do things when there's a fix RIGHT there?
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's any hobby the reach the top of. The OTH only makes them gain hobby enthusiasm faster. It doesn't have any effect on benefits obtained or even those hobby idle animations. They just come from participation in the hobby.

Oh, but the hardest way is always the most fun! *snicker*

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The idle animations have already amused me once (and I've only played the game once since installing FT).

Some random townie (I think she was a hobby related chick) would NOT leave the Ottomas house and kept doing the "picture hands" at the kids.

I really get a kick out of the music animations. It seems so appropriate for Ripp to hum and whistle and tap his legs all the time, and the humming thing sounds really funny (and realistic). He does it all day when he's working at the flower shop, so it's like a whistle while you work thing.

And every now and then, Johnny just starts throwing a few practice punches at whoever he's talking to (it's either fitness or sports). That ones is funny too.

[identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
UGH, HANDS!!! I tend to avoid them altogether instead of actually PRACTICING to get better.
I don't know why, but I just don't like dressing alien sims up in green, with the exception of Bunker. I guess it has to be a certain shade of green to make it look right for me. Pale blue and black looks great on aliens too I think.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
A human hand is just as hard, if not harder, to draw than a human face.

Yeah, it does have to be the right shade of green (usually the same shade as the skin or similar), but it can look really nice when it's right. Black is a good choice too, especially if they have the black hair/eyes combo. I also like red, on red haired sims (I have that on Chloe Curious right now).

[identity profile] simgarooop.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)

Awww, that was so cute!

I haven't seen those pictures/sketches, yet.
I guess I'll have to "fix" that issue right now :D.

Yeah, she's cute, isn't she? :)

You should try it out! The custom paintings are a lot of fun.

I LOVE Jill!!!! :D As you know ;)

*crosses fingers for some Ripp/Jill in the next chapter....oh please oh please* :D :D

I hope I know what's coming...and I hope it's what I want....*sigh*
