The dynamic of a triad relationship is interesting to me too (though in this case, it's more of a vee than a triangle). The jealous love triangle is always interesting to do, but I'm liking that this one has that little extra complication, where it's hard for the boys to see each other as enemies and rivals instead of friends, and the closeness of the three of them in their friendship keeps them together to let the relationship struggle its way into something a little different (as they sometimes do). It's still very unstable and untested, but there's something there that they try to cling to.
The Nervous storyline is very tied to the game. He is Olive's son and it's implied that the Grim Reaper is his father (though it's not in his family tree). There's no reason given for the deaths on Olive's property, but it spells out murder to me. I've seen other explanations but none of them really work for me as well as the knowledge-seeking serial killer angle.
Yeah, it's great how open the story is for the reader to interpret the details. It's always very interesting to see creative and unique takes on it.
