Frances would be in denial anyway, since his parents are obviously counting on his ability to carry on the family name. This was just a little explanation as to why his mother already knows about him. This same scenario happened to a very close friend of mine, who essentially was outed and then somehow managed to talk his way back into "the closet" by denying it, but many people still suspected after that happened... which makes sense. So yeah, the situation has a personal significance for me.
Ripp is one of those people that has to find a way to hit rock bottom before he can pull himself back up again. As for Frances, it's a very different thing for him to do, but he's been falling out of some of his old behaviours and just flinging himself into the unknown. Frances was lonely and upset, but he's also just thinking, "Oh, what the hell?" He gets to make out with a guy he finds attractive, (And I agree, some of those shots were pretty hot) so he's willing to just go for it for a change. He hadn't invested anything into it, like the whole thing with Tank. Of course, with them being brothers, he's sure to be feeling a little confused about it all too. Oh, Frances...
*snicker* Yeah, Ripp really bolted out the door and down the road. Tank is just that scary. I imagine he fell down a bunch of times on the way too, being so drunk.
I agree. Punching a wall is a good choice for Tank. The anger had to go somewhere, so at least he had enough sense to choice an inanimate object.
I hadn't even considered that Ripp might mix his thoughts up with what actually happened when he woke up the next morning. He really might think that more had happened than it did. I wasn't going to dwell on what happens the very next morning, since I plan to do a time jump of about a week or so (I have to get out of this habit of going day by day), but I might give that some thought too (at least cover it briefly). I'm going to pull back from their inner workings a little in the next chapter, since this one was so deeply into the heads of the characters.
