Strangetown Extras: Smustle dance competition

Ripp recently gained enough enthusiasm in the Music and Dance hobby to have access to the secret lot, so he decided to visit, and he invited Johnny and Ophelia along.

All three friends sign up for a smustle dance competition, and the dancing begins.

That's some good smustling.

Soon it's all over, and Johnny starts to second guess his moves.

Ophelia anxiously awaits the results. Ripp does his best imitation of a shy person.

Johnny receives the bad news first.

Ripp is the champion, and he doesn't mind rubbing it in. Ophelia just can't tolerate her defeat. Ripp wins bragging rights and $500. Pretty sweet. That's an easy way to make money.

Ophelia gets over the loss pretty quickly. At least she's not as bad as some of the other dancers. They all have a good laugh at the lame dance moves of the other competitors.

Then Ripp heads upstairs to further his training.

Was the dance competition at an old folks home? *snort*

Ophelia, it's not nice to make fun of OLD FARTS! Shame on you. . .*snort*. . .cracka please, who am I kidding. Making fun of old farts is the best.

Don't break a hip now!

That's some good smustling.

The third picture. THAT IS THE CUTEST SMUSTLE FACE, JOHNNY!

Was the hobby "leader" actually smustling? I think there's some kind of glitch where even in a smustling competition, the hobby leader doesn't smustle, but dances a solo. It annoyed me when I sent my sim to the dance lot and he lost, when his opponent WASN'T EVEN SMUSTLING!

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no you don't! If Ripp is doing ballet, I DEMAND to see him in some tights! He has to wear the proper attire! :P

Oh, and totally not surprised that Johnny lost. Not exactly a fun-loving guy, is he?

Yes. Yes it was. *snicker*

I think those old farts are both actually professors from LFT. One of them is definitely a drama prof because she kept flirting with the hobby leader, and he would reject her and she kept losing him as a "best friend" over and over again. Crazy drama profs.

Yeah, he's a cutie, isn't he? Too bad it didn't help him to win.

No, the hobby leader didn't smustle. I wasn't sure if he was meant to be part of the competition, or not. I think it was just between the three of them. That sounds like an annoying glitch, though. How can you win a smustle competition if you don't smustle?

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I should buy him some tights. It just uses whatever the sim has set as their workout clothing, so Ripp didn't have any. Maybe next time.

Hey, you have to give Johnny some credit. He's a great dancer, and he really does like to dance. He likes to have fun, but only after all his work is done. :P

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh gosh, Can you believe I never knew about Drama Professors until I made the mistake of moving one in? I will never forget Prof. Dylan...

I killed him, in case you wanted to know. :)

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
I love having the dance competitions! In my game though, the Hobby Leader lady ALWAYS Wins. Its totally not fair. Ophelia looks adorable smustling. :)

I'd love to make one of them playable. Do they retain their ability to have instant love with everyone they meet once you move them in?

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
The hobby leader can't defeat the trio. They spend so much time dancing back at their apartment. They all must have crazy high dance skills by now. I had them do another competition after this one, and Ophelia won.

Better luck next time, hobby leader! (Nice shirt, though... :P)

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
YES- Its really annoying, I thought he was glitched. But yea, they fall in love with everyone they meet. SIGH.

[identity profile] dothesmustle.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, I just realized, the hobby leader stole Ripp's signature hair-do.

I agree, Johnny, you were robbed. :D

Ripp looks so pleased in that last picture. I can so see him taking dancing lessons just to meet women.

Kinda like how if you marry in a mascot; they still have the ability to barge right on into whoever's house they please. First time I invited Shenene over I fully expected her to wait until greeted, but nope! right into the house and straight for the guitar.

When the gen four kids get to college I'm gonna have them invite their stepmom over and see if she struts in and starts it up with anyone. Half that dorm hated her guts!

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Is that "drama professor" thing a documented glitch? I had that happen in my prosperity hood (with Sylvester Gattus--poor guy even got smacked around for it).

That professor is batshit crazy. I kind of like it, though. It makes college a little less dull.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
I second this.

I DEMAND LYCRA!!!! (don't care who, just no Gunnar *shudders*)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a glitch. It's part of the game. Drama profs are supposed to create drama. It makes sense, right?

I know I read about it somewhere - maybe the Prima guide. It's definitely supposed to happen (and it makes seducing your profs very easy, if you're a drama a major, which is a bonus for Ripp).

Annoying? I think it's awesome. What a weird little detail. I'd really like to move one into a family now, just to see how challenging it is to play with one.
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
That happens to me sometimes with random people that I invite over. It seems like you don't always have to greet them. I wonder why?

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
OH, Maxis. . .how WIT-E.

DRAMA professor. . .tee hee, *bats at imaginary person*. Stop, just stop. You're just TOO much.

Maybe my prosperity hood's college needs a cowplant, should the drama professor really become TOO much.

ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
You're right. He totally did. Maybe that's why Ripp won. The hobby leader was biased because of his cool hair.

Johnny demands a re-match.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. But hey, at least its something to make things interesting. I find it amusing.

If you feed her to the cowplant, she'll just be replaced, right? I guess it's a solution for a single troublesome prof, but it doesn't remove the problem in general. Just be careful when interacting with them (if you do something to have a bad social with them, it really hurts your class performance - but only if you're a drama major).

[identity profile] simkind.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I heard somewhere that Sims with high Outgoing tend to just barge into houses like that.

I'm so getting Gunnar all Lycraed up now, just for you. It's going to be no chin, all Lycra!

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
He sure does. It's like he's discovering how much he loves ballet, or maybe he's thinking of the same idea that you did.
