Strangetown Extras: Smustle dance competition

Ripp recently gained enough enthusiasm in the Music and Dance hobby to have access to the secret lot, so he decided to visit, and he invited Johnny and Ophelia along.

All three friends sign up for a smustle dance competition, and the dancing begins.

That's some good smustling.

Soon it's all over, and Johnny starts to second guess his moves.

Ophelia anxiously awaits the results. Ripp does his best imitation of a shy person.

Johnny receives the bad news first.

Ripp is the champion, and he doesn't mind rubbing it in. Ophelia just can't tolerate her defeat. Ripp wins bragging rights and $500. Pretty sweet. That's an easy way to make money.

Ophelia gets over the loss pretty quickly. At least she's not as bad as some of the other dancers. They all have a good laugh at the lame dance moves of the other competitors.

Then Ripp heads upstairs to further his training.

Hmmm. Good theory. It would makes sense, wouldn't it? If it's not set that way, someone should make a hack for it.

I'm pretty sure that Jill Smith used to just barge in on Buck, though, and she's on the shy side of things (or average, anyway). Could the level of the relationship be a factor too?

You'd better provide some eye bleach.

*SNORT* Not that I would necessarily consider it eye bleach, but can elders wear the lycra? PT in lycra would be gilded in hilarity.

Poor Gunnar. He don't get no respect around here. *snicker* Eye bleach for all.

I'm pretty sure that they don't have Lycra for elders, but maybe someone will convert it. That would be very fun to see.

You could save Gunnar and make yours a likable/respectable/NON skeevy type. Though that's not really going to help with the chin thing (though the lack of a chin could be overlooked if the personality was good). My Gunnar is too far gone to ever be redeemed.

Damnit, I knew elder lycra was too much to ask for. Just like no one is willing to make elder male thongs. I fully understand why, but it doesn't make me want them any less.

My Gunnar is already a bit of a tool, and the best he's probably going to get in this story is to fade into the background. I have very little interest in him as a sim, and I think the way he was styled (paired with the Maxis bio that says that his bandmates don't really like him) just lends itself to that interpretation. He's not villainous like your Gunnar, but he's not really a great guy to have around. Maybe I'll find a better use for him somewhere down the road. He's young, so he probably does have redeeming qualities.

I have to say that I do not support elder male thongs. Then again, I do not support thongs for anyone. *shudder*

In real life, I'm with you on the thong *shudder*.

In sim-dom, thongs are wonderful and I love making my male sims wear them (can't say I care about the ladies in thongs, it's a bit overdone). Though I prefer itty bitty panties to thongs.

I feel a man panty parade coming on. . .

I was going to make elder thongs, wasn't I? Or at least, novelty elder unders. There was a "bee" design, if I remember right... I'll try to get back to that project. Poke me if I forget!

Secret lot? This is an aspect of FT I didn't know about. Is there one for every hobby?

Poor Johnny. What a woeface! But of course Ripp won. ^_^ And he looks so cute at the barre.

Yeah, each hobby has a hobby lot that you can visit after you get about halfway up the enthusiasm meter. They can then just call a cab and head over there, but they can also bring other household members who do not have high enthusiasm levels, so it's a great opportunity for them to tag along and learn too.

I really want to get Johnny up to that level for sports, since the sport objects, like the soccer and basketball nets, take up a LOT of room, and they can't fit them on their tiny lot. He could really benefit from going to the secret lot. Johnny's stuck with playing catch and watching sports on TV for now. Pretty lame.

Now that I'm looking at that ballet barre, I wish they had given us some actual dance type options with FT. What an oversight that was. They could have designed it to work like the slow dance between two sims, and they could do real partners dance competitions. Think of all the great Dirty Dancing/Strictly Ballroom types of stories we could make. That's such a classic plot to work with. I really want to do that now.

It's no surprise to me that Ripp won, really. I mean,look at all the moves he's learned, and I'm not necessarily talking dance moves here, but I'm sure they helped out.

Is THAT better? Technically it's NOT a thong. (rainbow panty power!)

That makes sense- I wonder if that's why some sims take a shower or bath when they're visiting.

Does that happen sometimes? I've only seen that if I've asked the guest to stay the night, or I've made them selectable.

I love that line (and any sentence with taint in it, really). Do you know where it comes from? If you do, I will be very impressed.

I admit defeat. I even did a google search (yes, while at work I googled "taint misbehavin", I was surprised the results weren't more. . .frightening, inappropriate, pink-slip worthy?)

Though there was this one thing on wikipedia describing some kind of taint. . .ISSUE. . .so delicately refered to as "cork taint". I think I can live without knowing the full details on THAT (and Wiki will now be refered to as Icky).

I've had Abejeit D. and a few townie kids randomly bathe at parties, and Nervous, but it's mostly been relatives visiting at uni or at home.

I always heard it was called the taint because it's in the middle -- t'aint one hole, or the other. :D

My Juliet took a bath at the Summerdream's house, during a party. And she wasn't selectable. I thought it was mighty presumptuous.

That would be a quick way for a romance drama major to fulfil a "20 lovers" LTW. Invite the professor over, fall in love, feed her to your cowplant. Repeat until platinum. :D

Isn't cork taint just something that happens when your wine gets "corked" and goes bad? Or am I being innocently ignorant? (Googling anything taint-related at work is pretty awesome, by the way.)

It was pretty obscure. Are you familiar with Mr. Show? It was from one of the skits on that show. They were talking about people who were obsessed with taints (like you would be), and they had special interest magazines called Tainted Love and Taint Misbehavin'. It was pretty much the greatest thing ever.

That show had some very funny skits on it. Please watch The Story of Everest and the Mayostard and Mustardayonaise commercials. Just brilliant.
