Strangetown extras: Off to college we go!

You'll get to see Jill and Buck in university in the next chapter, but I just got them set up there tonight, and I wanted to share a couple of pics right away. I thought I had enough willpower to keep it to myself until the update, but that sort of evaporated when the cutest thing happened autonomously, so you get a sneak preview.

That's right. The fish came too. *grin*

Buck got himself a flattering new haircut (or did he cut it himself?), and he's wearing one of my other favourite things about Kitchen and Bath: the argyle sweater! I have so much love for that outfit, and it's perfect for Buck. Just perfect.

The apartment that I picked just happened to be the perfect shade of purple to match Buck's stuff too. He loves it.

And here's Jill. I think she grew up cute. She's completed her funky new look with a striped jumper-type dress (with more green, of course) and some cool boots.

Hey, I can see Johnny, Ripp and Ophelia's apartment through the window! I can even kind of see that llama crossing road sign on the wall. That's a pretty high level of detail.

And this is what I just had to share with you: autonomous serenading! *heart melts* Buck is just too sweet. He gives me cavities.

If I didn't already have cavities, I would have certainly gotten some by now! Buck makes my heart melt, I just love him to death <3

Truthfully, ever since the beginning I was rooting for Buck and Jill to get together. I guess dreams do come true? :D

I love Jill's outfit! Gosh, if I had the guts in real life, I would definitely wear that, boots and all.

So many times I have considered making Buck gay, but I can never do it because I am SUCH a Buck/Jill shipper.

And WOW. That nose. I'm so interested in seeing what kind of nose any kids of theirs would end up with, between Buck's huge schnoz and Jill's tiny alien sniffer. (Speaking of which, I really like that haircut on her. I feel like it makes her nose fit more with the rest of her face, or something.)

Usually when a Sim does all that multicultural crap it gets annoying, since once somebody does it then everybody else wants to do it too. But when it comes to Tank, I just let it happen because it's way too funny knowing how he's SUPPOSED to be.

I only made Tank be in the adventurer career track because that was the first option available when he looked in the newspaper to get a job, and I was desperate for money. But I'm glad he is one because he really rocks that pirate look! Lol, he's the kind of sim that I take to community lots to make him try on the most ridiculous outfits on him just so I could get a laugh.
With Tank and Frances, I kind of made them the total opposite of yours on purpose. They're like, the bizarre alternate reality versions.

Yeah... Funny how a post about Buck turned into a conversation about Tank. Yep, that's me for ya.

That's another reason why I decided that I really need to do a time skip in my story. Even though I love them to death, the personalities of the Maxis made sims have been done over and over again. With Sims born in game, the autonomous personalities really dictate how they would act in the story. And, with the Maxis sims fading into the background, I can let their hilarious autonomous selves shine through at times.

They do seem to all end up being goofballs after a while, but I like that. Makes the game fun and interesting when all of the sudden you see them doing something totally out of character.

I'm not sure what to think about the sims 3 yet. I'm still having so much fun with the sims 2! In all honesty, I'm sort of scared. I hope it won't be TOO different.

Pascal is quite the affectionate fellow in mine too! Nervous is so much worse though. Pascal sticks to the cute things like kissing up arm, caressing, and serenading, while Nervous just goes in and makes out, smooches, and gooses. It's so weird considering his lack of outgoing points.

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Ripp doesn't whine every time I tell him to goose, but he does do it. Makes me giggle because he'll do it on his own all the time but then complain when I tell him to, lol!

You're absolutely right about Laz... he's dead even. I guess I always considered sims to be "nice" when they didn't wave their arms over their heads yelling "Hey dopey!" when they wanted something, lol! But yes, he's neither one nor the other.

Buck on the other hand... doesn't he have, like 9 or 10 nice points? I'll have to check again next time I'm in my game. I know he's waaaay up there with it! So cute.

Silly whining sims. I've noticed that about Ripp too. Ripp whines about a lot of things, and I just think it's so cute.

Me: Clean the toilet, Ripp.

Ripp: But WHY?!!! I don't wanna! *grumbles and takes 2 hours to do it*

And, on the other hand...

Me: Clean the toilet, Buck.

Buck: YEESSSSS!!! *fun level skyrockets*

Buck is like Mr. Clean.

Buck does have 10 nice points, and 10 neat points too. Also, I think 10 serious, and the other two categories are 4 for shy and 6 for active (just off the top of my head... you can check in my character profile tag). So extreme, but in the sweetest way. I think that makes him the perfect family sim by design.

Johnny, also, is super high in niceness. He has 9 nice points (and yet he doesn't cry when pushed... he usually fights back, which is a little odd).

Both of Vidcund's twins in my game have his nose, which is exciting. It means they'll look like their cousin, Johnny, as well as their father.

I greatly prefer too much nose to not enough nose, especially on a male.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh crap I think he's straight!" *snicker* He's a closeted straight man, I guess.

I like how different your Tank and Frances are from mine. It's like the Bizarro World version.

You're right. A lot of people have written those characters, so it might be refreshing to skip ahead to next generation, where you can create totally new characters, that just have the Maxis crowd as their history. It gives you more freedom. You can let the silly sim behaviour lead the way, if that's what's the most fun for you.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Sims 3. I'm not ready to move on yet, but by the time it's ready, maybe I will be.

This outfit was made for Buck. So neat, with the crisp shirt collar, but with a nice soft sweater on top, so he's all cuddly. *smile* There were a couple of other colours too, but this one was the best one. I like that the shirt matches his hair colour, and he's totally rocking the primary colours. Buck's not afraid of rocking the primaries. He's fearless when it comes to design.

I like those symbols too. It's especially useful if you install a couple of things within a short period of time.

How nice is P.T.? I forget... *goes to check* Only 5? I was thinking more. It's usually the nice sims that do the tucking in, in my experience. I LOVE the tucking in. So cute.

*snicker* I hear your suggestion, and have filed it away.

Sometimes dreams do come true. And sometimes they don't, or they fall apart, but it's nice to see something work out, and these two just might. It's nice that you've been rooting for them. :)

I would totally wear Jill's outfit in a heartbeat. I love it.

I can see how people interpret Buck as gay, with the Maxis bio, and his ultra neatness (it's a stereotype, but still). I don't think that dictates that he'll be gay, just a neat guy who's into art and design. Nothing wrong with that. He'd could be gay or straight. It doesn't really matter.

So you always pair up Jill and Buck? That's too cute.

Well, I guess the kids will get one nose or the other, since that seems to be how it works. I wish they'd allow it to do something halfway too. It would be interesting.

Yeah, that hair seems to balance her features pretty well. I'm liking it on her.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds like you're paired him with someone he really likes. Like 2-3 bolts, maybe? *grin*

Having Nervous flirt seems really weird, but I've had that too. My first Nervous (is that like a toy, or something?) married one of the maids, and they had 3 bolts. They were always kissing all flirting.

I still wish they'd make things make more sense for the personality score. I'd like there to be more variety in how they interact.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
PT/Paul isn't overly NICE, but he IS a family sim. If he's in the vicinity of sleeping spawn, he can't resist (and I wish you could make them tuck kids in, like you can with toddlers).

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. I've become quite adept at making a CAS that can have three bolts with all the Curious brothers (is that bad of me, lol?)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I wonder why that isn't a selectable command? It should be.
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
All at once? *snort* For just one CAS sim? Yeah, that's a little bad.

Sounds like it would cause some serious sibling rivalry.

[identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Bizzarro world is right! Though I have made Frances a bit less crazy after college, Tank is now showing how strange he can be. The loading picture of him and his family is hilarious, because he is surrounded by green.

[identity profile] dothesmustle.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Buck is adorable! Jill is lucky to have a guy like him. She's a romance sim, right? (Or maybe family sim?)

I'm pretty sure Ripp is going to be all, "Yeah, that's my boy!" Tank would probably just give some passive aggressive sigh. Does Buck know that Jill(Gah, I keep typo-ing Jill and writing Kill instead.) kissed Ripp?

Hey, atleast she chose Buck out of all the Grunts, if it were Ripp or Tank, I think Johnny would probably have a panic attack.

[identity profile] pixelcurious.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Pixel has Vidcund's nose, too.

I greatly prefer too much nose to not enough nose, especially on a male.

Co-signed!!

...when someone naked shows up.

Why does this never happen in real life. >:/

I forgot to mention, one reason I like that outfit on Jill is that somehow it helps to bridge the difference in the two very different greens of her eyes and hair.

You're right. It really does. How cool. Clashing greens was one of the reasons I gave Johnny a different colour for his eyes.
