I'm glad to hear that you like the interaction between the Grunt brothers. I really like the brotherly dynamic of the Grunts. It's one of my favourite things to explore in this story. They are all very different, though there are similarities between them all too. You're right about their positions along the extremes of personality. And they do care about each other. They show it the way that brothers often do: by poking fun at each other and refraining from punching each other in the face, even though they might want to. They are a family, no matter how dysfunctional, and that keeps them together.
And about that fish tank... Ripp really does love it. I guess it's his playfulness. I think that Buck might take the tank to college (that's tank, not to be confused with Tank), since someone needs to look after those fish. And don't worry, Ripp will have some pets to play with after he graduates.
