Sims 3: More pics

I have some more Sims 3 pics to share. I've been having a good time just playing around with it so far and trying to see how it all works. I went back into CAS again to try creating some more sims, and ended up creating a neighbour for my simself. So this post will be pretty wankery and full of my simself. You've been warned.

Here she is in all her glory. Not exactly a perfect replica (the nose was impossible to get right), but there's a bit of a likeness there. The nasolabial folds are cranked up to max, just like in real life.

I was getting bored of her affairs with married sims in Sunset Valley, so I made a single and very available neighbour for her.

So she drops by to make introductions.

Strange: Hey, you look kinda familiar...

Guy: Well, I think I'm based on someone you know from somewhere else.

Strange: Yeah, maybe. You didn't turn out that well, but you're alright.

Strange: So... uhh... what's with the baby? I thought you were supposed to be single.

Guy: Oh this?

Guy: It just appeared on my lawn when I came home from a trip downtown.

The poor thing basically had a basket dropped on his doorstep! :P

The kid's name is Abram too. How Biblical.

So Strange hangs out with the larva Abram and this totally unfamiliar guy, while he cooks some mac and cheese.

He's pretty flirty. Strange isn't really going for the pick up line that references dipping his chip in her salsa. That's a bit too bold (and spicy!) for her just yet.

She does engage in some light flirting, however. It goes pretty well.

Yet somehow, she still gets rejected for a kiss.

C'mon! She's a great kisser! It's one of her TRAITS, you moron!

Give him time, I'm sure he'll come around (and spawn some more larval babies).

He doesn't even own a crib for the baby! I hope he buys one before her next visit. I have doubts about his ability to care for that kid on his own, but we'll see how he makes out.

*snicker* Caillou. Yeah, I can see it.

I haven't even seen the toddlers yet. Are they really super ULTRA creepy? Why would they be bald? Are they rocking the modern comb-over (aka shaving your head to seem like you aren't going bald)? Why would a toddler be going bald?

Yeah, I did chop off all my hair. I haven't shown my selfsim in a while, but she has short pixie-like hair in Sims 2 now too. I was actually playing with her a little in my other game just before I installed this one. I was considering trying out that Matchmaker for One on her for a laugh, but I have some hack that causes the Matchmaker to teleport from the lot when you call her over, and I can't figure out which one it is.

I refuse to ever let my children watch Caillou. As far as they know, the whiny little brat doesn't even exist.

I don't have a simself. I'd never be able to play, but I don't make Sims of people I know, either.

The slowness of the game is really frustrating to me, and I hate that you can only play one family at a time. I can only play it for about ten minutes before I shut it down and go back to TS2.

I actually like the fact that the neighbourhood does its own thing, but in a very different way than I enjoy playing Sims 2. It's not very comparable. I find this game really reminds me of playing a point and click adventure rpg game, like latter day King's Quest games (which I enjoyed, but they aren't at all like Sims 2).

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think all toddlers are automatically bald. It just seems there are a lot of Caillou bubble heads out there.

Ooh, a challenge using your newly re-vamped self sim. What is it about self sims that makes folks want to torture them (or am I the only one who likes to ridicule their self sim?).

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
*Caillou thread hijack*

I've heard a lot of parents really hate Caillou. And he IS whiney. My sister joked that his mother snatched him bald headed, she couldn't take the whining anymore. That thought makes me smile.

It took me a long time before I had a self sim. Once I got over the initial freakiness of it, I adore her. I've used her for tons of stuff (asylum challenge, mini legacy, just to play dress up in outfits that don't flatter her--hilarious).

So sims 3 isn't your bag? I'd bet a lot of the hard-core sims 2 folks will grow tired of it once the newness wears off.

I've heard this comparison a lot.

Makes me wonder what the EPs will be like.

It really is like this. You are even granted these little quests called "opportunities" that you can follow for rewards.

Considering that you can't play the other sim households, it does sort of make sense to go in this direction. I'm not quite sure what to think of the hybrid gameplay between simulation and adventure. When I play those games, I often would love to just play with them as characters and have them go about their daily activities, and this lets you do that, but it's not quite as open-ended as Sims 2, and seems less useful as a creative tool as it stands right now. It will remain to be seen how this changes.

All in all, it feels more like a game to me now, where Sims 2 never really did.

I agree. I'm already halfway there.

I HATE CAILLOU SO DAMN MUCH. D: D: D: D:

I mean... I hate pretty much all cartoons, but there's a special place in the fifth circle of Hell reserved for Caillou. D:

Nice yourself Sim, strange! But honestly, I like your husband better for some reason! :D Please, don't feel offended, I'm just joking. :)

I like the babies actually. I think they're very cute, but I seem to be the only person here who likes them. :(

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG your Ripp looks so good!! I can tell it's meant to be him. I thought about making some Gruntage for my TS3 as well but I want to make the Beakers first. Right now I don't have any truly mean sims and I think they'd be really fun to play!

The baby thing happened to my selfsim! I have found you can't leave your sims unattended too much in this game, lol! Only my selfsim had a boyfriend (random Townie... not sure who it is without looking) and I assumed he was the father (the baby has his darker skin) but in the family tree there is no father. *shrugs* The game named him Leo and he is quite the opposite of his mother... athletic and excitable. :D

He wasn't left on the lawn, though. I was playing the Curiouses (they're in the same town) and they're friends with Sims3Cindy, so I had Pascal call her to invite her over. She accepted, then said, "Oh wait! Something just came up and I can't make it!" or something like that. I wanted to see what was up so I walked Pascal over to her house and there was a little blue blanketed baby lying on the floor! XD

Yup, the game vs toy analogy.

That's really why I'm avoiding it right now. From experience, I get bored with games (and rarely beat them).

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
And hard-core folks probably aren't as likely to fall prey to the nickle and diming aspect (where you have to buy all the custom stuff piecemeal--and at a higher cost).

With them doing the sims store thing, it makes me wonder how EPs are going to work. I don't have any experience with RPG type games (like WoW). Those types of games have expansions, right? Do those kinds of EPs give new activities or just loads of things?

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
*snicker* The game KNOWS your self sim loves kids. "Give it to cindyanne, she'll take care of it."

While I'm amused, it sounds like that could be a very annoying glitch.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
The question is, do kids like it? I mean, if their parents even let them watch it.

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it has subliminal messages. Seriously. When my kids first saw it (among the first and only times) they were RIVETED to the screen. It's worse than the Teletubbies.

My thinking is that some parents would be like, "Oh good... quiet kids! Yay!" and be able to ignore the hellacious horror that is Caillou. But I tend to sit down with the kids and watch the stuff they're watching and I just have to draw the line somewhere. D:

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It is annoying, but I don't think it's a glitch. I think it's something the game is supposed to do. The rest of the town will progress whether you're controlling them or not. When my selfsim had the baby, I had been playing another lot for five or six Sim days. Apparently the game thought her biological clock was ticking a bit too loudly for a Family-oriented sim, lol!

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering this myself... are there even going to be EP's? Or is it all going to be "custom content" you buy at the TS3 Store?

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, there will definitely be EPs.

EPs + store stuff = MOAR MONEY

That and people are already bawling for OMGPets and OMGWeather. Basically, they want to buy the same EPs over again.

I'm almost willing to bet each EP will still focus on the game aspect (so each EP will have new collectibles and mini games versus the EPs for sims 2 that were more enhancements to the base game).

God help me, if they make a farm EP (even if it's very "game"). I'd be hard pressed not to buy that.

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I already told my daughter IF the sims ever have horses, it will be with TS3... because right now you can, for example, get on your bicycle and ride it somewhere. So, therefore, a horse theoretically could work the same way.

I wouldShe would totally go nuts!

[identity profile] swhedonberry.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, I'm pretty sure your boy there is telling me to do things...evil things.

[identity profile] swhedonberry.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I like the nice upper body that you've given the random guy that is in no way Ripp.

[identity profile] leskuh.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol, Bannon? It's because he's so dreamy isn't it? XD

[identity profile] swhedonberry.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
He frightens me, yet I would follow him into battle.

[identity profile] leskuh.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
*wipes tear from eye* I know exactly what you mean. XD
