Sims 3: More pics

I have some more Sims 3 pics to share. I've been having a good time just playing around with it so far and trying to see how it all works. I went back into CAS again to try creating some more sims, and ended up creating a neighbour for my simself. So this post will be pretty wankery and full of my simself. You've been warned.

Here she is in all her glory. Not exactly a perfect replica (the nose was impossible to get right), but there's a bit of a likeness there. The nasolabial folds are cranked up to max, just like in real life.

I was getting bored of her affairs with married sims in Sunset Valley, so I made a single and very available neighbour for her.

So she drops by to make introductions.

Strange: Hey, you look kinda familiar...

Guy: Well, I think I'm based on someone you know from somewhere else.

Strange: Yeah, maybe. You didn't turn out that well, but you're alright.

Strange: So... uhh... what's with the baby? I thought you were supposed to be single.

Guy: Oh this?

Guy: It just appeared on my lawn when I came home from a trip downtown.

The poor thing basically had a basket dropped on his doorstep! :P

The kid's name is Abram too. How Biblical.

So Strange hangs out with the larva Abram and this totally unfamiliar guy, while he cooks some mac and cheese.

He's pretty flirty. Strange isn't really going for the pick up line that references dipping his chip in her salsa. That's a bit too bold (and spicy!) for her just yet.

She does engage in some light flirting, however. It goes pretty well.

Yet somehow, she still gets rejected for a kiss.

C'mon! She's a great kisser! It's one of her TRAITS, you moron!

Give him time, I'm sure he'll come around (and spawn some more larval babies).

He doesn't even own a crib for the baby! I hope he buys one before her next visit. I have doubts about his ability to care for that kid on his own, but we'll see how he makes out.

Hee, your Simself is so pretty. :D

I haven't tried making one yet, and I don't really want to. That would be weird. :P

I love how sim!ST and Totally Unfamiliar Guy hit it off so soon! And it makes me sad that he has a larva and there is no mother. D: I haven't noticed random spawning yet, I need to check that out.

Aww, thanks, Josh. You flatter me.

It's funny that you refuse to make one. It just supports my idea that's it's totally a girl thing, though, like writing Mary-Sues. Girls LOVE that shit.

He was only in town for a couple of hours when that baby showed up! How is that even possible? :P The babies are super creepy. That close up shot with the scary blank face and the creepy little doll hands will give me nightmares tonight.

No, that really happened!

He's single, with a lifetime wish to be boyfriend to 10 people, and a baby was just randomly dropped off on his doorstep.

I love your simself! I don't know if I'll ever make one for myself. My 11 year old sister wanted me to, but I was like: "NO I WANT TO MAKE THIS BOY INSTEAD." and then she was like: "OMG I love playing boy characters in video games!" and I was like: *high five* "Although I'm not really BEING him so much as I messing with his life." and it was good.

I don't actually mind the babies. I think the cocoon blankets are kind of dumb, but whatever.

I really hate this 'EVERYONE YOU LOVE CAN MOVE OUT WHENEVER THEY DAMN WELL PLEASE' thing though. What if your active Sim is romancing their SOULMATE and they just... DISAPPEAR FOREVER?! D:

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
You should make one! Everyone (with ovaries) does it.

Really? They scare the shit out of me. In fact, the whole look of the sims is a bit too far into the uncanny valley for me. I don't hate them like some people, but they're sitting on a line there for me where they look both cartoony and also too much like real people.

What? You mean they can move out of town? That's sad. I used to feel bad when the animals in Animal Crossing left town, so that makes me kinda sad.

[identity profile] leskuh.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I did in TS2, but never played her. I might if I ever get TS3 for myself, but I think I'll let it go for now.

I kind of dig the way the Sims look. It's not exactly how I would like them to appear. I think it would have been kind of awesome if they had pushed towards a disney-esque/cartoonier look with even more emphasis on the eyes. Also, my biggest issue is that a lot of the lips look unfortunate.

http://pics.livejournal.com/strange_tomato/pic/00121r5w

The baby in this picture looks kind of creepy, yeah.

http://pics.livejournal.com/strange_tomato/pic/001208k4

But he's cute in this one.

I believe so. I think it's a possibility with any family besides the active one. And I'm still not sure if Story Progression is borked or not. I kind of dig the progression, but not enough to really love the moving out/random babies from the sky/aging that doesn't sync up with the sims you are playing.

THE BABBYS! OMG THEYRE SO SCARY! D:

But seriously, this whole post made me LOL. Yeah... No Sims 3 for me. I thought about downloading it like a week ago, but many things I've seen in the last few days just get me to want it even less.

[identity profile] speedspin-88.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who jumped on the Sims 3 too. I'm also glad I'm not the only one who thinks the likeness of the sims are really...scary. It's almost a bit too real. Does your game have sound? Mine doesn't. D:

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
The babbys are HORRIFYING. They look like those really scary "lifelike" dolls that I hated with a passion as a child.

I'm actually finding it pretty fun, as a game. It takes FOREVER for my sims to take a bath and sleep through the night (even on fastest setting), but I'm not sure if that's related to my own computer or just a problem with the game. I've been reading while I wait for her to sleep up (and it seems like they spend all their time sleep - maybe I just need some replacement for the energizer. Sleeping is for suckers).

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
I get the feeling I'm going to drop it pretty quickly and go back to Sims 2, and maybe play it here and there for fun. I appreciate the improved environment graphics, but everything is just a little too "real" for my tastes. I totally agree with you.

Yeah, I have sound. I like that you can adjust the sim voices. I've never paid much attention to them before, because they always seemed wrong in Sims 2 (the male voices were almost always too deep for me).

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
It's a problem with the game. Even with the BEST bed, they spend like 7 hours a night sleeping and it feels like forever because Speed 3 is SO SLOW. They want us to suffer. :(

(I had to cheat today to get stuff done. I used testingcheats and kept dragging their energy back up so that they only had to sleep ~4 hours a night.)

Oh, I really like her! She looks great.

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's really annoying and boring to play through it. I keep making her take power naps and drink coffee (or weird chai beverages - there isn't even a real coffee maker, is there?)

I hope someone makes a hack to fix that problem. Would it be possible to speed up speed 3, or is that impossible, I wonder?

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt it, that's srs bsns game stuff. They'll probably either make their beds have a lot more energy or slow down the decay. Either way, they need to sleep less!
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I agree. Those solutions would work well, but part of me still wants there to be a way to speed it up too. In Sims 2, I live on speed 3 when I'm actually playing the game.
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. It's hard to get a perfect likeness, but I think you can make some interesting looking sims, with some effort.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
REALLY? I love on Speed 2 unless I'm doing something specific. I can't believe there are people who play on Speed 1, that would KILL me.

[identity profile] leskuh.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
My sis' game is like that too with the sleeping. I'm pretty sure that speed 3 in her game is like... only a teensy bit faster than speed 1. It's ridiculous.

Four... Must take spelling and typing lessons

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
I think that one just locks it into speed three until something changes, though I might be wrong about that.

Either way, it's still slow. :(

[identity profile] applesafter.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
She looks "fierce" in that first picture. notRipp with a baby? Hilarious!

[identity profile] simsinthecity.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, you look kinda familiar...
Well, I think I'm based on someone you know from somewhere else.

*blinkblinkblink*

Ripp? Is that you?

I think the fourth speed option is that it goes on speed 3 until the selected Sim is done doing whatever they were doing. Sort of like the autospeed 3 you'd get if everyone was sleeping or at work/school, just selectable now.

[identity profile] ikichi.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Who would give Ripp a random kid?! (OMG it's his, isn't it?)

The game seriously gives out random babies? O_o

[identity profile] cappacitation.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
COUGH Ripp-whore COUGH.

Your sim-self looks awesome. As does the totally unfamiliar guy.

And you've got me wanting to "buy" this game now.

Btw, will you be showing us TS3 versions of Johnny and Phi too? (And perhaps some of the other primary HWC characters)

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
Random larval babies. My god, my horror has just been compounded.

In fact, there are a lot of things in sims 3 that freak me out. The larval babies, the sims eyes (like how they don't close all the way when sleeping and they just look like creepy doll eyes *shudders*). Bald toddlers. They REALLY freak me out (but only in sims 3, sims 2 bald toddlers just looked like Lex Luthor). And I figured out why. They look like Caillou (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caillou). Damn, that kid is goofy looking AND has THE most annoying voice on the planet. *hates Caillou*

(do you have short hair now or is your self sim just rocking a different look?)
