Strangetown Extras: Ripp is no longer a slut?
Wow.
I don't know what to say.

Ripp: What?! How DARE you, you harlot! What are you trying to do?

Three Lakes lady: Kiss you up the arm?
Ripp: Ummm, no.
Three Lakes lady: Not even just one?

That looks like a no, dear. (He's so cute when he's haughty.)
Seriously, I have NEVER seen this happen in my game. It amuses me greatly.
Could Ripp really be that serious about Ophelia? I mean, she's quite sexy in that bikini, but this is just surprising game behaviour. Maybe he just doesn't want any distractions from watching Phi get all wet back there?

Three Lakes dude: Good job, Ripp! I really admire you.
Ripp: Umm, okay. Sure.
That guy actually admires Ripp in the sense that he blows hearts for him. Sames goes for the teen male that's log rolling with Phi. The ACR randomizer seems to have made a lot of gay males in Three Lakes, and Ripp is going over very well there.
And yes, this does mean that I'm (finally) working on the next update again. I hope to get something up pretty soon. I've decided to split the last part into two sections, not because it's long, but because it will be easier for me (yes, I'm buying more time - real life has been busy lately).
Have a nice day, all! ^_^

Good point.

As I like to think of it, maybe it's a cultural difference and that's just how it is for everyone in West Veronaville (the other side of the river obviously operates differently). Then it's not something that the men have to submit to at all. It's just how it is there. In my mind, the Summerdreams follow this too, with Titania as the head of the household, and Puck planning to take Hermia's name. It would be yet another point of (cultural, this time) contention between the Montys and the Capps if Juliet and Romeo marry. I can't remember if Romeo is heir to the Monty "throne" (aka llama ranch) or not, but Juliet is definitely the rightful heir of her branch of the Capp family.
It's funny how you mention losing dignity in this context, since that's how it has been (and still is, in many cases) for women in our culture when entering into marriage. Does the reversal make this more obvious?
I really like how Veronaville turned that whole process on its head in the Capp family. (Well, I WOULD, right? :P Feminist alert!)

You know the play, Romeo & Juliet, right? Well, at one point, Juliette tells Romeo to "deny [his] family, renounce [his] name."
It's a Capp thing! Wow, for a bunch of people we all hate, EAxis isn't too bad about coming up with these things.

That has to be why they did it that way. It makes perfect sense. I still like to think of it as being cultural, since they've set up the hood in two sections - these micro-climates that resemble (Shakespeare's) England and Spain/Italy (or some other Mediterranean country - I'm not sure) respectively. It makes more sense that the Capps just doing their own thing to me, though that would work too. It's open to interpretation, I suppose.
Veronaville is quite clever. It's not a literal interpretation of Shakespeare's work, but there's a lot of "wink and nod" stuff in there. I really like it.

The real Verona is in Italy, I think.
I was thinking about why EAxis chose Shakespeare, and R&J in particular, for a whole neighborhood. Well, there's drama, of course, but I think it's also a subtle tribute to TS1. Remember the music that would play when two Sims kissed?
It's called Romeo and Juliet, by Tchaikovsky. How fitting.

Coincidentally, my SO and I are currently "fighting" to have our names combined in marriage, but without an hyphen. It seems to go beyond what they accept as a marriage-related change (meaning we'd have to legally change our names - not a good option). With same sex marriage being legal in Canada, I think they need to open their minds to other options. The time has come.

Can't have it all, I guess. :P

And yes, Romeo is the heir to the Monty Ranch, and Juliet is the heiress to the Capp throne.
