Strangetown Extras: Ripp is no longer a slut?

Wow.

I don't know what to say.

Ripp: What?! How DARE you, you harlot! What are you trying to do?

Three Lakes lady: Kiss you up the arm?

Ripp: Ummm, no.

Three Lakes lady: Not even just one?

That looks like a no, dear. (He's so cute when he's haughty.)

Seriously, I have NEVER seen this happen in my game. It amuses me greatly.

Could Ripp really be that serious about Ophelia? I mean, she's quite sexy in that bikini, but this is just surprising game behaviour. Maybe he just doesn't want any distractions from watching Phi get all wet back there?

Three Lakes dude: Good job, Ripp! I really admire you.

Ripp: Umm, okay. Sure.

That guy actually admires Ripp in the sense that he blows hearts for him. Sames goes for the teen male that's log rolling with Phi. The ACR randomizer seems to have made a lot of gay males in Three Lakes, and Ripp is going over very well there.

And yes, this does mean that I'm (finally) working on the next update again. I hope to get something up pretty soon. I've decided to split the last part into two sections, not because it's long, but because it will be easier for me (yes, I'm buying more time - real life has been busy lately).

Have a nice day, all! ^_^

Sims can reject ACR actions when there is a person on the lot that might get jealous over the actions. It may depend on personality but my current romance king has been known to turn down his 'one' in order to keep someone else from getting upset.

Mmm, right. Care to tell that to a certain romance sim in my game? Not saying too much for now, but:

He's maxed on nice and pretty quiet, married with a baby and one (at least) on the way. He lives with not only them, but also his parents and uncles (dad's brother married to someone else). He had a flame while at Uni, and she came round to visit while everyone was home. After trying to flirt with her a few times, I caught him going to "relax" - naturally I thought it'd be with his wife. But no, it was the other one - good job his wife came in and plopped herself down next to him before the other woman got to their room! And yes, this was all thanks to ACR - and I set him to spouse-only! What happened?!

Wow. That's odd, unless he had better chemistry with her than his wife? It seems like that would likely happen.

But Ripp knows that whatever sexiness they're hiding under there can never be as good as Ophelia's very BLATANT sexiness right next to him. He's through with all these inferior women.

ACR is great fun. :) And yeah, it won't break anything, don't worry. Won't break anything except MARRIAGES, muahaha.

He scores three with both of them, so... *shrug* Mind you, he and his "bit on the side" as she seems to be becoming, are both romance and both have that attraction benefit. But even so, he still scores three with his wife :-\ Really weird he'd try to bed her right under his family's nose though.

Ah, well then. Thank for sharing that. I didn't know that mod allowed the "no change" option. That's nice to have, but I wish there was a way to hyphenate or do other things too.

Can't have it all, I guess. :P

I think it might be a Capp-only thing, since the Monty males keep their last names.

The real Verona is in Italy, I think.

I was thinking about why EAxis chose Shakespeare, and R&J in particular, for a whole neighborhood. Well, there's drama, of course, but I think it's also a subtle tribute to TS1. Remember the music that would play when two Sims kissed?

It's called Romeo and Juliet, by Tchaikovsky. How fitting.

*HIGHFIVE* :D :D :D I'm sure this'll have some use ingame.

[identity profile] simsinthecity.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I know a girl, her last name is a combination of her parents' names, without a hyphen. But I don't think they changed their names, so that's not much of a help. :/

ACR "protects" anyone from changing preferences if they have a crush or higher relationship with anyone. She must've been that way, then.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! I love it. I noticed when I was doing the research for EPL. I find it so fascinating that the men would go through with it, too, so I assume it's for the money. Or for love, whatever. :P

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally agree. I always imagined that Puck would take Hermia's name and that that's just the way it WAS.

And yes, Romeo is the heir to the Monty Ranch, and Juliet is the heiress to the Capp throne.

You really think so? It seems like it would be a cultural thing to me, and the men would just do it out of traditional, like the reverse of our culture.

But I suppose that would still apply to anyone from outside of Veronaville, or even the other side of the river (like Romeo - excellent example).

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
I kind of floundered on it for a while, but I agreed with you somewhere up there. I do think that's just the way it is over there. It does seem like a very cultural thing right? I read some interesting things about how people see women as "dominant" or "ball busters" when they either don't change their last names or add hyphens to theirs. Apparently, society hasn't evolved all that much.

Yes, and cultural things are often misunderstood by outsiders, so you can still have the whole "marrying for money" angle, or general reluctance to it. It's a very interesting thing to have in there.

Haha. I'm actually following that. I read feministing.com and I have a couple of Jessica Valenti's books, so it's fun to see her getting married and trying to shed some of the same shitty archaic traditions that we did and getting flack for it. People at home view the So and me as something of a novelty and oddity. When we drive home, they always ALWAYS ask "So who did the driving?" because apparently, it's really odd to share the task. XD

Yes, Tatiana is Bi by default too, as you say also is Ariel, but *that* always sounds a bit weird to me, I mean she's a toddler O_0
(And can't forget Circe at STown, she's bi as well :P)

[identity profile] simsinthecity.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know what you mean, it really is odd for a toddler to already have an orientation.

Circe is bi? She didn't come up that way for me, but I'll have to check again, now. :P

[identity profile] silentsteel.livejournal.com 2009-05-05 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Also, sometimes I wonder how many straight people are actually bisexual, but they don't want to explore that side of themselves out of fear. If you have two options and one is easier and more socially accepted/rewarded... well, it's not hard to see why you'd just go with that if you like it anyway, right?

I personally think it's a very large percentage of the supposedly 'straight' part of the population. But I also think sexual, gender identity, and emotional gender orientations can all be fluid/different from each other.

Well, I am just thoroughly mortified at Ripp's behavior. I think he's showing off for Phi and Johnny. Maybe they will consider polygamy if he shows restraint? I'm convinced Ripp can never live alone. He'd be deathed by flies within a week. :D
